Julie snickered. She couldn't help it. "I'm not surprised." She set her menu down, still grinning. "And I bet you're embarrassed every time."

"I'm nothing special," Steve said, turning a bit red. "Just a guy from Brooklyn. I... haven't had much experience with d-- women."

Julie chuckled quietly. "I could list off reasons women want to flirt with you, but I don't really want to make you uncomfortable." She settled back in her seat as the waitress came over to take their orders.

It was one of the more experienced waitresses, this time, and she managed no to flirt with Steve. She smiled brightly and looked at them both.

"What can I get for you?"

"I'll have the San Francisco burger please." Julie handed over the menu with a quick smile. Although she had to admit she appreciated that this one wasn't flirting with Steve.

The waitress nodded and wrote it down.

"I'll have the classic burger, please," Steve said. The waitress nodded again and went to put the order in.

"It's been a while since I've had a decent burger," Julie mused, watching someone else's food go out. "I'm trusting this is going to be good, Steve, or you and I are making burgers."

"This place has been around a while," Steve said, grinning a bit. "The burgers haven't changed. They're still very good burgers."

Julie grinned. "We'll see," she said. She didn't doubt his word but it was fun to tease him a bit.

"Although that doesn't mean we can't make burgers sometime."

"You know how to do that?" Steve asked, curious.

"I do. I'll show you sometime. This weekend maybe?" Julie shrugged.

Steve grinned a bit.

"Sure," he said. "I'll hold you to it."

Julie grinned. "I'll get ingredients, then. Would you prefer to do this at the tower or my apartment?"

"Ah, the tower is fine," Steve replied. He grinned a bit. "The others might want to get in on it, too."

"True. I should make Tony buy, then, since I'll need enough food for everyone." Julie grinned. Especially if she was feeding Steve and Thor. That would be a lot of food.

"Good idea," Steve replied with a grin.

Julie snickered and watched as the waitress brought over their food, setting it down. She waited until the waitress had gone to try a bite of her burger. Okay, that was really good, but she was too busy chewing to say so.

Steve watched her expression, though, and grinned when she didn't seem to dislike the burger.

"Like I said," he commented as he picked up his own, "they've been doing burgers like these for a long time."

"I can tell," Julie said when her mouth was finally empty. "I think I have a new favorite place to get my burgers."

Steve hummed around his burger, although he was making sure to savor it. It tasted just the way he remembered as a kid, and that was something he didn't want to take for granted.

Julie was more than happy to take her time eating, enjoying the food. She was going to be coming here often.

Steve finished more quickly than he really liked, and sipped at his Coke. Sitting there, he could almost ignore the ridiculously futuristic world outside and pretend he was back in the '40s again. Almost.

Julie stayed quiet for a bit, enjoying the restive atmosphere and the good food. She could tell Steve was thinking about something, and she didn't really want to disturb him just yet.

Steve blinked when he realized he was reminiscing and grimaced a little.

"Sorry," he said. "I didn't mean to check out on you like that."

"It's fine," Julie said with a little grin. "I was enjoying the quiet. Really, I'm capable of entertaining myself for a bit."
