Why do you want to be adopted: Because I am sooo confused. And if someone has signed up to be a mentor, then I can assume they expect to be asked endless questions and to answer even really dumb questions...and probably to just volunteer information that the newbie doesn't even know to ask. It beats me running all over the site and forums to ask random people random questions which they may or may not feel like answering. :)
What are you looking for in a mentor: I'm not picky. I guess just someone who will put up with all of the above.
Fun Facts: I like a lot of things - reading, art (painting, collage, assemblages, odd stuff hanging from trees, etc., scarecrows, nature, gardening, native plants, old cemeteries, history, posing and photographing dolls and adding dialog, leaving random kind notes or little works of art in public places for strangers to find, letterboxing (although I don't do too much of that any more), watching too much tv, hanging out on the internet too much, ecology, permaculture, genealogy, video games, ...and, well, a jillion other things that ebb and flow through my life. And I am just the teensiest bit OCD about some things.

Thanks so much, Wandering Poet and Cora! Well, the day is new and I am just now getting online. I need a while to gather some of the PARTICULAR confusion I had yesterday. LOL! Right now, I only have a huge mass of GENERAL confusion. I hardly know what to ask. But one thing (or two) does come to mind: About clothes - What would be your advice about clothes buying? I am thinking that it would be best for me not to spend much now, until I can save up enough to buy things that I really, really like, rather than buying a lot of cheaper things now. On the other hand, I am a simple person, and I actually LIKE, LIKE, LIKE the simpler 'newbie' type clothes here. It is accessories that are usually my downfall. Oh! Also, where do people get the backgrounds I see on some of the avatar pictures? I am a background freak - I love them even more than outfits. I have looked around the shops and marketplace, but haven't seen any. Do I just need to get glasses, or is there some other place where they are sold?
Thanks so much for your help and friendliness. :)

As for the newbie shop stuff, if you like it then absolutely buy it. (the truth is, I've been here since 2008 and I LOVE the newbie stuff and wear it quite often) however if what catches your eye most is something more expensive then wait. I know that's really not a particularly good answer, but really it comes down to personal tastes.
Myself, I'm a massive hoarder at times (something I truely need to work on xP) so I just buy it all in random orders.
As for the backgrounds they are part of our collector's items (CI's). You can generally find them in the market if you know what to look for. This here is our item guide, it generally has previews of all the older items so you know what goes with what. ( Menewsha Rare Item Guide - Menewsha) Some of the newer items are still being worked on but its steadily getting closer to completion.

Ohmygosh! That is incredibly helpful, Cora! In browsing the listings, I see that I need to be saving up for Bee Slippers (October 2007. Bees are my 'thang'. One of them anyway.), Rainbows of Iris set (June 2010 - I LOVE that sky background!!!), The Dryads Hollow (November 2010), Sunny Side Up (August 2011), At the Bottom of the Garden (May 2012), Golden Harvest (October 2012)... And I haven't even had time to look at the event items yet, but I see they have pumpkinssss!!! Love those! I also saw some themes with clouds and stars, etc. As you can guess, 'sky' things are also something I really like....as well as 'naturey' things like woodlands, acorns, trees, gardens, plants, birds, squirrels, owls, etc.
Thanks to your link, I now have a direction to head and a focus for what I want. I see that the bee slippers are available in a shop (or marketplace?) now, so if I can save the money before they are gone, I'll be getting those first. Then I will watch for the other things to come up eventually. Happy, happy, happy!

Its nice to see a freshly excited face ^.^
I'm glad I could be helpful, that always makes me smile ^.^
Another helpful place, if you want to keep all the things you just mentioned wanting in an organized place, you could make a quest thread in this forum here Quests - Menewsha

Hi Ophium! Hope you are having a great day. :)
Cora? More questions...sigh...
1. The Quest Forum you directed me to. I looked and it seems like I have to have a complete list before I can post anything, right?
2. The rules there mentioned following rules for use of colors. But I haven't found any rules like that yet. So now I am worried that I might be violating some kind of rules for posting messages in color.....? I mean color like this message is. Or maybe size of letters?
3. Are people really supposed to be 'themed up' in their quests and should quest for a whole - WHOLE - catagory of stuff? Like in the examples it says all of the green stuff....all of the ...whatevers.... I don't remember the rest. Honestly, I wouldn't want ALL of anything.
4. Can we edit our post there so we don't have to reserve a bunch of spaces for future posts? I have seen that on other threads and it seems like overkill. But what do I know????!!!
5. Okay, off of quest questions. Is there a group of chicken items here anywhere? I swear I saw a picture of an avatar with chickens. Not the Easter chicks or anything, but regular full grown farm hens. Am I dreaming? I have looked but so far have not found it, if it even exists.
I think that's it for now. THANK YOU for your unending patience!

Suzanne Sky: Check out the Marketplace to search for items. You can use keywords in there.
As far as the Quest threads go, I'm just newly back so I shall step back and let more seasoned members answer!

Thanks for the tip, Elmira! I tried but still haven't managed to find chickens yet...or at least like the flock I thought I remembered seeing. I did see one multi that had a single chicken in it. I can't recall the name of the set now, but it was mostly Kentucky Fried Chicken based.

You could just post one thing in there and call it a quest. It a forum made to help you track your progress.

I am a bit confused on what you mean here. Adding color and size to your posts is fine because its not something that earns you gold. In the past it did though. could you possibly link me to where you saw this rule?

You don't have to be questing for a theme, those people chose to, but really you could start a thread, post 1 item and say its a quest. It really comes down to what you want, not what others did.

Again this is personal choice. It all comes down to what you personally want to do with it. If you feel one post is sufficiant then only do one post.

Once again, Cora, thanks. ~blush~
It was actually the Questing Guide: Tips, Tricks and Gold How To's thread, the number four message, "Quest Threads". http://www.menewsha.com/forum/gaming...d-how-tos.html Down at the bottom where it says, "Some More Tricks" it says, " Use Color, don't break the rules about color use..." and that had me worried, because I have been on some forums and gotten in trouble for using colored letters, when I didn't know that was against the rules. But apparently it was a false alarm for this site.
I guess, in reading all the rules and examples, I thought that was the only way they wanted it done. No variation. And then, with so many detailed rules, it made me worry about trying to follow things down to the letter, or else. LOL. But just now, I noticed that the quest rules on that thread were written in 2007. I guess things have changed and evolved since then. :)

Oh Wow, that guide is old, been overlooked in our recent attempts at them I'm afraid.
Basically in the past You could make your posts all one color like this but because every character counted as gold earned something like this
Would have earned you mucho amounts of gold for the amounts of post decoration, so it was in the past against the rules to do too much post decoration.
Now however it is coded into the system that anything between brackets [like this] does not earn any gold, post decoration in the form of color wouldn't be any more then black, so the rules have change ^.^
