Hi everyone! I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right category, but I used to have VERY clear skin all up until this year! I've been threading my chin area and that's where the breakout started. It just doesn't go away!

Not to mention there are white head like bumps around there and some that are very red and sore. I'm not sure if it's because I'm threading or something else!

Has anyone had or have this problem as well? If so, could you tell me what you suggest me to do! I really want my clear face back. D:

It could very well be the threading that's causing this. I have very sensitive skin on certain parts of my body and if I so much as THINK of shaving there, or waxing, or plucking, I will get huge boils that last for weeks. So...I just let it be. Kinda is how it has to be.

I'm pretty suspicious of your threading, to be honest. If that is the only thing you can think of that is different since last year, then there's a good chance you've got your culprit. Are you using clean thread? Disinfecting the area before/after to keep the germs away? Have you tried using regular acne products from drugstores? I would stop threading for awhile to see if that's the solution.

Something else that comes to mind is whether or not you got a hair cut that would cause your hair to brush up against your chin. It's possible the oils in your hair are causing this. I have had that issue before.

Also depending on your age...this could be a hormonal thing. In which case you're going to want to see a doctor/dermatologist to figure out what's going on.

All in all, though. Stop threading. Sounds like the culprit to me. If you keep breaking out past that, then try my other solutions.

I would suggest a visit to the dermatologist. I used to have super bad acne and I went about three months ago and my face is nearly completely clear! It is really amazing what they can do :)

Thanks you two!
However, my mom refuses to take me to a dermatologist.
No idea why, but that's that!

How is the process, NewCSLewis?

And thank you so much Elysium! I'll be sure to not thread and see how that goes!

Yeah, I understand my parents wouldn't take me for the longest time... Let's just say kids used to call me pizza face and with the cream and medication they gave me it is all gone (except for some scars) only four months later. Magic!!

I have suffered from excessive facial hair, and found that plucking was damaging the follicles so bad they'd rupture, and cause inflammation (red pimples) which would get infected and cause white heads. So I saved up like a crazy person and got laser hair removal. It's amazing and I don't get pimples anymore.

I also learned that I had poly cystic ovaries which made the acne worse. Changing my diet was enough to balance my hormones enough to stop the acne :) (15 years of it)

Clean eating is supposed to be very good for helping with acne. There's a lot of information on it on Pinterest.

I used to have terrible acne, and I found that exercising regularly helped me a lot. I dunno why- I think the sweating cleared out my pores, perhaps some hormonal stuff?

Hope that helps!

I use a combination of materials: Oil-free astrigent, facial cleaner, and daily balancing moisturizer. It works very well. It starts clearing my skin up in a matter of days, but I'm sporadic with using the stuff, so it never lasts.

Does anyone know if ProActive works?

Proactiv works pretty well if you've got typical acne, but it can be pretty rough on your skin. It's very drying and can leave your skin pretty sensitive, or even burn a little. So if you've got sensitive skin, or over the counter acne products (not counting the very harshest ones) have bothered your skin, you may want to skip it. In my experience, it works best for little white heads and small pimples. It does not help blackheads or cystic acne.

As for the facial hair, bring it up the next time you see your doctor (if you have one). Some facial hair can be pretty normal, even a lot, depending on your genes. But sometimes it can hint to an issue with hormones, like PCOS, that a doctor could help with. Nothing to be scared or worry about, nothing that's going to really hurt you, but there could be a cause behind it that could be treated so you wouldn't be having this issue.

I also have some dark hairs growing on my chin, so I pluck them out. Then I breakout. It's embarrassing and I'm tired of it too. I think mine is hormonal, i'm on birth control, so I think once I got off this get something different it will stop. Have you thought of it being hormonal? Maybe stress could cause it? Or what about diet? There could many causes and I agree you should ask your doctor. Good luck!

Thanks!

Cherry Who?: I have noticed that my skin changed recently. I've been using ProActive for a couple of days and see the difference in my skin. When I first tried it several years ago my skin would dry out and burn like you said! But now, thinking that my chemicals changed or something it works slowly but surely. Thank you so much! I have stopped threading and I just bleach now. Thank you! <3

llonka: Ahh, I know what you mean! I hope things get better. It might be from stress and hormones most likely. It's my senior year this year and you know, college apps, finals, etc. I could use a better diet as well! xD Thank you so much. I think you should try bleaching if it causes you to break out. You can't even tell it's there! Just make sure you don't get a full face of sun or all your now blonde hair will be sparkling!

LOL! Maybe I should try bleaching. I'm really about stroking my chin hairs though. >.< Does sound like a stressful year, hope things calm down for you soon!

Hi there.

What has worked well for me if I randomly have a break out is either toothpaste or Tea Tree Oil.

Might sounds strange, but it works well for me. I coat my problem area with a thin layer of toothpaste and let it dry. It will have a burning/freezing feeling, but it isn't too bad.

If I don't feel like using toothpaste I use Tea Tree Oil. A small drop or two rubbing around the breakout seems to work very effectively.

Of course, both may dry your face so using Aloe Vera to moisturize your face is a good idea.

Both can be bought at Walmart or other drug stores.

Both ways are cheap, fast, and have been very good for me. I know not everything works for everyone though.

Lady Vengeance:

No problem dear =)
I cut out dairy milk, as I found the hormones in milk exacerbated my hormonal issues, and the cysts I was getting were from my body struggling to deal with all the excess hormones.

Hopefully this link explains it better than me:
The No Milk Acne Diet

My laser hair removal cost $1200, for two years worth of treatment, plus a third year if I needed it - which I used anyway. The first two years I was treated every six weeks, and the last optional year, I was treated every 12 weeks.

It sounds like a lot of money, but it's worth every cent to be honest. Well worth saving up for. It took me a long time to save up, but I'd do it all again in a heart beat if I had to.
