Because, if there is nothing to show, how to proof that you read it?
In teacher's perspective.

that's freshman logic. you don't teach class to college seniors like that. we talk about in in class and we have a final paper. we read a book every week. the teacher isn't going to make a stinkin' quiz for every single one plus the other stuff we read besides the books.

Is it? hmm...
really very different cultures.
Ours only suggest reading materials, encourage us to read, but no test whatsoever on it.

In my second college literature class (which I believe had students from all years) we had quizzes every time reading was due. Afterwards, we'd discuss it. We also had to write blogs about some of the books we read. I don't see why you wouldn't teach class to seniors in that way. It's not like it's a stupid thing to do. XD I think it's nice that my teacher made quizzes for us~

well, quizes aren't the best way to test if something has learned the material. nor is it exciting for students. We spend two classes reading a book. At the half way point, we start discussing and talk about our impressions, then we go further into detail the next class. then we start reading the next book over the weekend. Having a quiz for about ten books for just one class? I don't think the teacher would want to do that either.

I wouldn't even try for 1k posts. only nutsy people get that and I wouldn't want the sort of thread that can hit that many posts in three days.
thanks. I don't really draw chibis much, but everyone always loves them more than even my most professional art.

I think that depends on what kind of quiz. X3 We always had short answer questions. They were always very insightful and asking for your own opinion on things. I loved discussing the questions afterwords too.
