I went to the movie theater to see some action film, when the trailers start. What do I see? "The Great Gatsby". I was so excited that I bought the book and began reading as soon as I got home. I loved every single page, every single character, every single bit of it. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what book?

I've read a few books because I enjoyed the movie versions. Girl, Interrupted and The Golden Compass both spring to mind, but I know there have been others. The movies let me know I'm interested in the idea, then the books give me a more detailed, fleshed-out story.

Is it weird to say Harry Potter? I didn't have much interest in it until I saw the movie, then all I wanted to do was read them! Almost Moon was another one, and How to Train Your Dragon. I try to watch the movie first, so I can enjoy it. The books are always better, but that doesn't mean the movies have to be unenjoyable.

I also read the golden compass due to the movie best thing I ever did by the way. I adore his dark materials.
One big one for me was the true blood series ( I FREAKING LOVE THE TRUE BLOOD SERIES) I watched and adored the show then went and got the first four books in the series expecting to love the books as much as I did the show. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. I hate the books, to mils and boons for my liking. I would love the books if my head hadn't connected them to the show.
