Faye snorted.

"Thurman shouldn't have made him so easy to bait," she joked.

Rei snickered. "Every book has to have at least one or we wouldn't be so amused," she pointed out.

"This is true," Faye agreed. She grinned. "Although it might be worth it to get a Robin, an Ish, and a Cal all in the same area."

Rei snickered. "I think Cal would probably be the first to crack and leave, at least according to the books. It would be neat to see how it actually works out."

Faye just grinned.

"Maybe if we come across anyone willing to actually stick around, we can ask if it's ever happened," she said.

"We can do that." Rei grinned. "We'll see who else we find along the way."

Faye nodded.

"Sounds good," she said.

Rei grinned and settled down next to Logan for the night. He didn't move, just pulling out a beer.

Faye settled in herself, although she didn't try to settle in next to either of her guys. Neither of them were what she would consider 'cuddly' and both liked their personal space.

A few days later, they were still in Leandros-land, and Rei was just kind of wandering. She wanted to see if they could run across someone before they left the territory.

It was really just dumb luck (depending on your point of view) when the girls finally ran across someone. They ended up nearly running face-to-face into a bishi, right up until he disappeared into a sickly gray light. Faye blinked and glanced at Rei.

"I think that was a Cal," Rei said, blinking. "I think he just gated away." And that was actually pretty fascinating, that he could do that.

"That was kind of awesome," Faye said, nodding. "Like, I can't even be disappointed that he's gone, that was really kind of cool."

"That was really kind of cool." Rei grinned. "It would still be awesome to get one, but even just seeing that was awesome."

"Yeah," Faye said, grinning. "It's one thing to read about it, it's another thing entirely to see it."

"Exactly." Rei sighed happily.

"You're so weird," Logan complained. "The hell was so special about that anyway?"

"It was kind of the equivalent of teleporting using the gates of hell," Faye said. "Kind of like what Nightcrawler does, except instead of popping through a pocket dimension, this one is a gaping, unnatural hole in the fabric of space."

Logan grunted, still sounding unimpressed. Rei just snickered. Typical Logan.

Faye rolled her eyes. Yup, that was typical of Logan.

"Hey, you asked," she said.

Logan grunted again while Rei grinned. Really, this was just too fun now.

Faye just grinned and kept walking. She wasn't sure who they would run into next, but she was sure it would be interesting.

Rei finally gave up for the night and went to go sit in a nice camping spot.

And she almost ran headlong into an Ishiah.

Faye blinked. She hadn't seen where the Ishiah had even come from. All of a sudden, he was just there.

"Is this going to be like a thing around here?" she asked after a moment. "Just tripping over people?"

"I guess so," Rei said, blinking when Ishiah basically just vanished back into the forest. "Fun stuff."

"It's like playing a giant, unwinnable game of hide and seek," Faye said, glancing around.
