Tony studied her for a moment.

"Okay," he said. "On one condition. You live here in the tower so I don't have to keep looking all over for you."

Lea blinked at that, thoroughly surprised.

"I'm not going to leave Amy anywhere on her own," she warned. "We'll both stay here. If she agrees."

"I thought you didn't want to bring her in on things yet," Tony pointed out.

"Not on the testing, but if I'm going to live here, she will too. I'm not leaving my sister on her own. She has her own job, and we can share a room." Lea shrugged.

Tony studied her for a moment.

"Done," he said, turning back to his tinkering. Then he paused. "Oh, one thing you should know. The other guys live in the tower too."

That made Lea pause. "The other guys? What other guys?"

"The other guys, you know, the Avengers," Tony said as he dug a screwdriver into one of his gadgets. "You had to have heard of them, everyone's heard of them."

Lea swallowed. "The Avengers live here?" she asked, her voice not quite a squeak. "That means we'd be living with the Avengers." She wasn't sure how that would work out.

"Essentially," Tony said. "But you can't deny it's safer than your apartment. My tower has the best security systems in the world."

That was true. Also, they'd be near the Avengers, probably near enough that shouting would bring them running. So it was probably the safest place on the planet.

"Let me talk to Amy about this," Leandra said after a moment. "If she's fine with it, we can be packed up and over here tonight or tomorrow, whenever is easier."

Tony nodded.

"Fine," he said. "Top twelve floors, bypass the bottom eight of those and head straight for the third from the top. Jarvis will let you in."

Lea nodded. "And Amy won't be involved in these tests in any way," she confirmed. "No DNA samples, no asking her to test things, nothing."

"Yes, fine, whatever," Tony said. "Honestly, it's like you don't trust me or something." He glanced at her and then back to his tinkering.

"Don't take it personally," Lea said with a careless shrug. "I don't trust anyone. I'm the more paranoid of us." She smiled wryly. "I'll go talk to Amy now if you don't need me for anything else here."

Tony waved her off, going back to his work. He still had two tablets and palm pilot to disembowel.

Lea left the building, heading back to their apartment. She did pick up tea for both of them on her way back though.

"Amy?" she called as she opened the door.

"I'm here," Amy called back as she came out of the bedroom. "What's the verdict?"

"We've got his help with one condition," Lea said, handing over one of the cups to Amy. "We have to go live in the Tower so he can keep a better eye on us. And the Avengers live there too."

Amy reached for a cup and froze when Lea finished speaking.

"The Avengers?" she asked.

"Yeah. Apparently the whole team is living in the tower at the moment." Lea watched her nervously. "I mean, where in the world would be safer than in Stark Tower, which has the best security of anywhere, with the Avengers living like a floor up from us? I don't think Killian could get us there."

Amy still hesitated, paranoia from such a long time running keeping her from agreeing immediately.

"I suppose we could try," she said after a moment. "It's worth a shot, if they can help us."

"That's what I figured." Lea shrugged. "And if it doesn't work out, we can leave. But at least this way we get to stay in New York and keep our jobs, and we might not have to run again for a while."

Amy nodded.

"Then it sounds like a good plan to me," she said. "When are we going?"

"Tonight, I guess," Lea said with a shrug. "We can pack up and head over there by tonight, anyway." She took a sip of her own tea, starting to pack up her computer.

Amy nodded, taking a sip of her own tea, and started to gather her things. It wouldn't take her long.
