Amy saw what Lea was planning, and quietly took her plate from her sister. Then she glanced at the door and back.

Lea ushered her out first, grinning when no one stopped them so they could go downstairs and eat.

Once they were done eating, though, she looked at Amy. "Let me take a look at your headband and see if I can figure out what's going on."

Amy nodded, taking off the band and handing it to her sister. Then she settled onto the bed, trying not to think about the other people in the tower.

Lea moved back into the bedroom to work on the coding and seeing what went wrong, so she didn't hear the gentle knock on the door to their suite. Loki waited outside patiently for one of them to answer.

When Amy noticed her sister was busy, she got up and padded over to answer the door. She opened it just enough to see who was on the other side, and she instantly hit with the sense that the man had a very strong will, indeed, and her Extremis programming was pushing at her to try to break him.

"Can I help you?" she asked finally.

"I heard you have some interesting qualities," Loki said, his voice smooth. "I believe it had something to do with mental manipulation." Or at least that's what he'd heard.

"And where did you hear that?" Amy asked cautiously, looking at him.

Loki shrugged. "Stark was talking earlier with Dr. Banner, and I... overheard them."

Amy noticed the hesitation as he chose his words.

"Overheard, or eavesdropped?" she asked.

"Does it matter?" Loki asked with a little smile twitching at the corners of his lips.

"Maybe," Amy hedged. "Why are you down here?"

"Because I believe I may be able to help you, and I have nothing else to do in this wretched tower." Loki made a brief face. He really hated being without magic.

"And what do you think you can do that the people who did this to me in the first place couldn't?" Amy asked. It was a legitimate question, to her.

"They have no idea what you can really do," Loki said quietly. "I do. I am a being of magic, magic is what I do. And part of that is getting people to see what I want them to see. Among other things."

"Tricking people doesn't help me, I'm afraid," Amy said. She gave a small, empty grin. "Not when I'm being urged to push at you until I break you or I burn myself out trying."

"That is because you can't control it. Not yet." Loki shrugged. "I can teach you how. It is much like any other muscle; once you know how to work it, you can strengthen it and control it. At the moment, it controls you."

"That might have been the case, once," Amy said. "But I've got programming now that tries to tell me what to do. And that I don't think I'll ever have control over."

"Of course you can. No matter what, it is your mind, and you can control it." Loki shrugged. "We may simply have to get creative."

Amy was quiet, just looking at him. She was very skeptical of his claims; if she was going to be able to control her Extremis, she would have been able to by now.

Loki raised an eyebrow at her before he put one finger to her forehead. He tsked. "As I thought. You had this ability before but you never trained it."

Amy looked at him cautiously, a little frightened.

"How do you know that?" she asked.

"I can tell. Close your eyes, pay attention to your mind. Can you feel anything odd?" Because Loki was in there to get a look around, and he knew he was good but he shouldn't be good enough to escape notice entirely.

Amy gave him a dubious look. There was no way she was going to do what he said, she didn't have a clue who he was.

"Actually, I'm going to settle back into my room," she said, stepping back a bit.

Loki shrugged. "Think about what I've told you," he said. "I expect I'll see you again soon."

Amy gave a cautious nod and closed the door again, going back to settle on the bed.
