Lea looked up when Amy came in. "You look upset," she noted. "What happened?"

Amy hesitated, briefly weighing her options.

"Nothing," she said at last. "It's not important right now." Because she had no idea how to explain that Loki had wanted to poke around in her head to see what made her tick.

Lea looked at her for a few moments before she nodded. "Alright," she agreed. "Well, I fixed your headband. It should last better for hard wear like today, so hopefully it won't be as big an issue."

"Thanks," Amy said, taking the band and putting it on. She sighed when she felt her programming being pushed aside. "Better."

"Good." Lea smiled, pleased that it was working again. "Well, I think that's all I can do for now."

"Thanks," Amy said, hugging her sister. She left the headband on, only taking it off just before it was time to get some sleep.

Lea settled in next to her, yawning briefly. Hey, she didn't have anything else to do that night, she figured she may as well sleep.

Amy snuggled close to her sister, settling in.

"I hope this all works out," she murmured.

"I hope so too," Lea murmured. "I really want to find some better way to block these impulses for you. I just need to figure out how."

"I know you'll figure it out," Amy said. "Sleep for now. Sleep is always best."

Lea nodded and got ready for bed, settling in with Amy and drifting off quickly.

A few days later she still hadn't figured out anything new, and she was still working with Tony and Bruce on the Extremis problem. She was currently waiting for Tony to hand over the newest prototype tech.

"Do I have to stand here all day? 'Cause I could be finding something better to do."

"Chill out," Tony said. "You can't rush genius." He fiddled with the tech a moment longer, and then turned around. "At the risk of sounding like Morpheus..." He held out one option in each hand. "Choose one. This one," he held up his left hand, "will perk you up to normal Extremis levels. This one," he held up his right hand, "will slow it down closer to normal human levels."

Lea snorted and grabbed the one from his right hand. "We'll see how this works," she muttered, looking it over to figure out how it was supposed to work.

Tony took it and stuck it on her upper arm.

"There," he said. "It should gradually release the modification into your system and into the Extremis. Keep it on for a while."

"Gradually, huh? How gradually?" Lea looked at a few tools he had lying around, picking one up and twirling it between her fingers.

"Few hours," Tony replied. "Why?"

"That's too long, I can't test it for at least an hour, then." Leandra frowned.

"If it was any quicker it would shock your system," Tony said as he turned back to some of his tinkering. "Your body would just reject the whole thing and we'd have to start over."

Leandra grumbled but went to go work on another project for a while.

After about an hour and a half, though, she looked over at Tony from her own little workstation.

"Should I test it now?"

"Test it? What do you mean, test it?" Tony looked over at her. "Bruce can do that for you, go see him, I'm sure he has a way to do it right."

"This way is faster." Lea grabbed a tool with a sharp edge and sliced open the back of her hand without a second thought. The slice was clean and fairly shallow but it bled, and it didn't start closing like it normally would have. Lily nodded her satisfaction.

"Jesus, Leandra!" Tony exclaimed, stumbling out of his chair and groping for a rag to wrap around her hand. "What the hell?"

"It worked," Lea said, setting the tool off to the side. "Bruce's tests would have taken too long, this was the fastest way to see if it worked." She watched him, not at all worried about her bleeding hand.

"Are you insane? You have to be, to do something like that, jesus, why would anyone do that to themselves, normal people don't just go around cutting their hands open like that." Tony looked around for something besides the rag to cover her hand with. "You know what, we're going to see Bruce, he can patch that up, come on, we're going." He steered her in the direction of Bruce's part of the lab.

Lea spluttered a bit, cushioning her hand in her shirt. Mostly so she wouldn't get blood all over his lab. "Really, there's no need to worry. It's just a cut. Calm down."
