It ended up happening on her way home from work. Amy was walking back to the tower when she was accosted by a pair of men. She could feel the Extremis in both of them, but she didn't have time to break in and make them leave her alone before one of them slapped a little device on her chest. Something pricked her skin, and her mind was promptly flooded with Extremis. It dissolved whatever barrier Loki had put in her head, and her programming took over again. She quickly brought the two under her control, and then went with them back to their headquarters.

Lea got a text message that was just a picture of Amy sitting with a few Extremis men around her, and an address. Amy didn't look hurt, but that didn't mean there wasn't a problem. Lea panicked a bit before she stuffed her phone back in her pocket, grabbed her purse, and headed out to go find Amy.

Sean was waiting for her when she got there.

"Ah, there you are," he said. "You've kept us waiting."

"Not long. Where's Amy?" Lea crossed her arms over her chest, unwilling to do anything else until she saw Amy and made sure her sister was fine.

"She's fine," Sean said. "Back to normal, good as new." He smirked. "We even got her all updated on her shots for you, you should thank us."

Meaning they'd updated her Extremis. Damn.

"Okay." Lea licked her lips. "You messaged me for a reason. You've already got Amy; what do you want with me?"

"It's really pretty simple," Sean said. "Come back. We'll upgrade you like we did Amy, and we'll give you all new technology to do what you like with. You really are our best code-worker, so come back and we'll make sure to take care of you and your sister."

"And I assume if I refuse you hurt her, or you come after me and hurt people around me." Lea was quiet for a few moments. "Alright, fine. I get to decide what code I work on. I have the right to say no and not be punished."

"I'm sure we can negotiate to some agreement on that term," Sean said, nodding. "But otherwise, fine."

"Alright, then." Lea grimaced. She really, really wasn't looking forward to this. Already having Extremis was no guarantee that she'd survive, after all.

"Good." Sean smiled a bit. "Shall we go, then? They're waiting for you in the examination room."

"One more question." Lea didn't move yet, keeping her arms crossed. "I'm currently immune to Amy's sway. Will I still be?"

"We'll see," Sean said. "Your immunity to your sister is... unpredictable."

"If I'm not, that's my first project," Lea told him. "And I'm not budging on that. I need to be free of influences to be able to code properly."

Sean studied her for a moment before nodding.

"Fine." Besides, such research could be useful later on, so they could benefit from allowing her that.

Lea took a deep breath. "Alright. I'm ready, then." She motioned for him to lead the way, though she wasn't real happy.

Sean led her to the medical room, where a table was already waiting for her, alongside a pair of doctors. One of them gestured for her to sit on the table.

"When you are ready, we will begin."

Lea sat on the table, twitching a bit nervously. "Ready when you are."

The doctors both nodded and began. One readied the injection while the other gently pushed Lea back so she was laying on the table. Then they strapped her wrists and ankles down with padded cuffs.

"Relax," she said. "It doesn't burn like the last one did. This one is a bit different."

"A bit different?" That was a bit alarming, but Lea didn't try to get up. Not yet anyway. "How different?"

"It doesn't burn through you," the doctor replied. "But it is still... uncomfortable." The way she said it sounded like she was understating the truth, which she was. Some of the others who had received the upgrade said it felt like sand being forced through their veins.

That feeling started fairly quickly, and Lea grimaced. "Yeah, I got that," she ground out, her eyes narrowing a bit as her hands clenched into fists.

"Just relax," the doctor said. "It will be over soon."

Lea was going to shoot back some snarky comment but it hurt too much, so she just stayed silent, gritting her teeth.

And if she fantasized about killing a few people to get her through the procedure, well, she figured that was her right.

All in all, the procedure took a few hours. Once they were done, they moved Lea into a side room to recover some and get used to the new version of Extremis.
