"You don't ever really get used to them," Tony said. "Unless you're me. Then you just don't sleep for a week."

"Yeah, I remember when you had one in Malibu," Lea said with a little snort. "I don't think we slept the rest of that trip."

"Nope," Tony agreed. "Just lots of coffee."

"Coffee sounds good. Lots of coffee. For the next few days," Lea said. She decided she'd pull a leaf from his book.

Tony didn't argue with her over it. Hardly anyone in the tower ever got regular sleep, nobody was going to comment on one more insomniac.

"There should already be some brewing," he said. "Let's head back and grab some before Cap realizes."

Lea managed a weak laugh at that. "What, think we'll get the Cap Glare of Disapproval?" she asked, letting go of him to start walking back to the Tower.

"If he catches us, I know we will," Tony said, grinning. "Maybe even a Stern Lecture about going without sleep."

Lea snorted. "Who needs sleep? Sleep is not nearly as much fun as hacking into SHIELD."

"This must be why we work, we're both crazy insomniacs with a penchant for getting into trouble," Lea said as she walked back with him.

Tony snorted and followed her back inside

Lea headed up to the kitchen to get coffee, making it sweet enough to almost not be coffee anymore before she started drinking it.

Tony made a face at that.

"How do you drink that?" he asked, watching her. "Way too much sugar."

"Exactly. Sugar and caffeine both, better mix to keep me awake and going." Lea downed that cup and went to get a second much more normal mug of coffee.

Tony just snorted and poured himself a mug of black coffee, and then waited for her to head back into the workshop.

Lea followed him to the workshop, settling in more quickly when she was once again surrounded by the reassuring buzz of his tech.

"Your tech sounds different. It's nice."

"Well my tech is different," Tony replied easily. "It's the best." He glanced at her. "What does it sound like?"

"It's..." Lea frowned. "It's more energetic, and louder." She shrugged. "That's the best way I can think of to describe it. It's more... demanding, I guess is another way to put it."

"No, not at all. I'm used to it, so it's kind of comforting, I guess. It's still much more tempting to take apart any and all tech of yours, but I like to think I have a better handle on my Extremis now." Lea shrugged a bit.

"Everyone wants to take apart my tech, it's beautiful and perfect and makes lesser techies drool," Tony said, grinning. He put an arm around her waist. "I just want to make sure you're okay."

Lea relaxed a bit, leaning against him briefly. "Yeah, I'm okay. Well. Okay enough. Still looking forward to the perfect version of Extremis, though."

"Yeah." Lea shrugged. "I'll decide when I need to." Because that wasn't going to be fun no matter what.

"Decision's going to have to be soon," Tony advised. "Brucey thinks he figured the virus-part of Extremis, so now I just have to write the proper code. And I have to know whether you want an antivirus or something a bit more streamlined and refined."
