It also doesn't help that people often vanish after events only to return strictly to collect the event items and vanish again...

It's always surprising when I get the very first post of an announcement that's shown through a link that says "click me" only to have 5 people in an hour...

I myself have been trying to break that routine but some of the forums are just too slow to talk in. Sometimes I'll wait weeks for a new topic and any thread a few down would technically be a "necro" even if I could contribute >.<

One thing I tend to avoid though, is the nations forum. I prefer to be invited to someone's hangout rather than inviting myself.

I feel fairly possitive I've 'necrod' threads before because I don't even think that something 5 threads down can be reeeeaaallly old, but sometimes that is the case.

Sometimes when I am bored I have a look around different forums, but I find conversations to slow or even die whenever I try to hangout in any thread.

I don't even bother with the event threads either... >.< I guess I have one or two select people that I like talking to and I just stick to messaging them.

@ Kat - I know... I look halfway down the page and it's like "What? half these people aren't even around anymore O.o"

@poet: but I think if its a discussion or something, it's fine to keep talking there.

That's true... but it's awkward when a conversation is cut short and goes cold for a couple weeks

Poet: I suppose it would depend on what the conversation is about. sometimes there's a new conversation to be made from it.

Maybe you could make a thread of the week? make a new thread every week to encourage people to post in it?

@ Jelly - I'll probably red over the posts later but I'll take your word for it for now XD

@ Kat - That's true... but some forums are so slow :(

Poet- Indeed I hate when I post and then the conversation completely dies. Especially if it's a thread that I've just decided to post in and not a regular thread of mine. xD Just what you need to fizzle out that adventure spirit! Post...and death.

That is quite true, but it's not that I'm subscribed to threads. I lurk around in The Menewsha Nation when I'm here between events. Or I play Tetris. I have a few certain threads I prefer to chat in.

I totally agree with you there, Melody. It makes me not feel like branching out nearly as much. Or posting, and not that it dies completely, just people looking over me, and making me feel like "Why did I post here in the first place?"

The Treasure Hunt game made me realise there were a lot of threads I'd have posted in if I'd known there were there so I'm trying to keep an eye out in forums I don't check normally. At the moment I'm pretty busy with uni so even my own subscriptions are getting neglected.

HA you're lucky I looked at the notice..... I'm a creature of habit what can I say.... Plus I've gotten in trouble EVERY time I've navigated away from my comfort zone, so now I refuse. *shrugs* even when I thought I knew TOS, I wound up violating some rule or another and got a verbal warning... why deviate from what I know, I think it's been 4-5 years without incident I'd like to keep it that way ><

no, but i'm saying that is why i do talk to everyone.
i do so count, Poe!

when i joined in '07 i felt unwanted
so i do go out of my way to make everyone feel wanted.
i talk in art forums*i shouldn't be allowed to look at art*,no talent.
when it is slow i just go chat everywhere and have made a lot of friends that way.

I have some subscribed threads, but mostly I stick to threads where my friends are chatting. Also have this habit of posting a bunch, then life gets busy and steer away from Mene for a little while, then come wandering back for more posting.

Don't really have an old habit, more like a routine. Sorry.

Plus, I am not a soft fluffy, sweet person and have been known to be crass and not everyone digs that. So, in an attempt to prevent people being offended by my awesomeness, I stick close to threads with my friends.

I've always been really active in the General Discussion forum and the Life Issue forum. I also have my own private hangout because I got tired of keeping up one of the threads in the Hangouts forum that didn't even belong to me (and that thread has died since I stopped mothering it). I guess that's bad but I come here for a couple of specific people who are really good friends to me.

BUT, I do check the front page every day to make sure I'm not missing anything seriously important, and I do peruse through the site sometimes. I guess I stopped being active in a lot of forums because other people quit being active as well. Waiting five days for a reply in the music forum gets old.

I just plumb forgot about going to the sticky event threads, I was so busy with my own event thread, and a couple others. Next event I'll check out the sticky threads for sure.
