Yes indeed... I think the only deck I have played with was a blue/white deck. Was a very durable defensive deck. I loved it.

i hate elf decks. hence they're evil.
You can get combos going in them where someone can have infinity health and mana. And its REALLY obnoxious.

i'm sure there is still an elf bull crap deck out there in standard. I just don't personally have the combo memorized of how it works.
i know it has to do with tapping and untapping the elves somehow. Cause they tap for mana, but a card untaps them. So you can just do it infinitely.

Haha... oh gosh... that sounds like what I heard when I heard about mtg as a kid.
Was like "I'll pass... considering the card you just showed me is a game breaker..."
Don't even know what card it was, only that the character was invincible... forever...

yeah .. there's cards like that.
you have to play counter spells or something similar when its first being played. So that it goes to the graveyard instead of actually onto the playing field.
or use cards that can actually target it. blah blah blah. don't really know. xD

I know there are cards that make a card unable to target or be targeted... those are pretty annoying too...

That's likely what I will do.
Apparently it is... something like...
20 creature cards and 20 everything else?

no...
minimum is usually 60 cards for your deck. Depending on your deck determines how many lands you need. But usually it sits around 20-25 on average for lands.
Some decks you can go with having no creatures at all. Known as burn decks because they have spells that do immediate damage. :D
and there are decks that are meant to discard the other persons deck. those don't necessarily need that many creatures either.

well. the friend who taught me is now my ex boyfriend... for good reasons. xD We're still friends though. :]
So I'm glad your friend didn't do that to you.. I didn't teach one of my friends, but he asked me to play with him... and apparantly, i'm one of those people with an obnoxious deck. cause it didn't matter what deck i used i always beat him.>.<
So I had to teach him some things so he wouldn't suddenly hate the game. Like... he has to buy more cards than just commons. And more than just counter spells. heh ^^;;
I am drawing playmats now though. Got a commission to draw three MTG cards on a white playmat! :D yay gonna sell my art! wohoo wohoo!

Especially if you play competatively. but the only time using just commons works is in what's called pauper games. Cause it's decks built using only commons, playing against other decks using only commons.
All the commons are from the last.... 3-5 sets?
