Yeah, but she's struggling to swallow. :/

It would be so much faster to fly. Because flying gets us from Sacramento to Albuquerque and then it's only a 150 mile drive, but it's an almost 18 hour drive straight through from home to there. :/ So we could drive, but it's a long drive that the price of gas and all of that would have to be taken into consideration as well.

So if it's a time sensitive thing, which they're trying to figure out if it is or not, flying would get them there faster.

Yeah, that can be a side effect.
From here to my family is a thirteen hour drive. We did it when my grandmother died though. We all got to see her before she passed, but not before she slipped into her coma. And I couldn't go into her room at all because I had just had eye surgery and she died of a MRSA infection in her lungs.

Yeah, I just don't think that my parents could handle that long a drive - as if dad goes with us, he probably wouldn't, but his back has been bothering him - but I know that mom doesn't handle long drives. But it looks like both my mom, and uncle, are planning on flying out, like tomorrow.

That sucks! :( I didn't get to say goodbye to my grandfather passed away as I wasn't able to go down with mom as it was too rushed and we were afraid I wouldn't be able to get back to school - as it happened over my spring break a few years back. He was the one that I was closest two of all my grandparents.

Yeah, it wasn't good. And it was just after they found my friend's body in the landfill and we had had her memorial. Not a good time for me.

Sounds like a rough time! :( Definitely doesn't sound like a good time.

I kind of crashed after my grandfather's passing (Like I stopped going to all my classes. :/ It wasn't good.) I don't think I ever let myself properly grieve.

Oh, they are considering driving - driving together (my mom and uncle).

It happens.
Hey, if they drive, you could ask to go!

I could go. I just don't know if I would want to sit for 18+ hours, as it sounds like they want to drive straight through with minimal breaks. And they'd be leaving early tomorrow morning, most likely.

---------- Post added 06-06-2014 at 06:59 PM ----------

Plus the 18+ hour drive coming back. I went crazy going to Arizona in January to take my brother back to school - and that wasn't as long of a drive as the drive to where grandma is in New Mexico.

They decided to fly instead of drive.

Kaleb only played with the the little boy a couple times, but they were on kids inc teams together so I guess he knew him pretty well. I just don't know if I really want to tell him. He may not even understand or may even forget and ask where he is anyway. The whole thing just sucks,

Sorry about your grandma, Cloudy. She may pull through and stick around awhile longer. My great grandmother had several strokes before she passed away.

We are hoping that she'll pull through, only time will tell. Mom leaves here in less than an hour to drive down 3 hours to San Fransisco, as it was cheaper to fly out of the city than to fly out of Sacramento. Dad is driving her and then will be picking her up whenever she flies back. Although maybe we can find a decent flight to Sacramento to fly back - she hasn't booked her return flight as she doesn't know how long she'll need to stay.

If you do tell him, I would leave out most of the details. Just tell him that the little boy won't be able to play with him anymore because he's (insert religious belief here). Or that he had an accident. Don't tell Kaleb that he drowned. I think that may make him afraid of the water.

That's a very good point there, Mag! Don't want to make him afraid of the water. But all in all I agree with you llonka. It is a sucky situation all around!

Thanks!

*curls up in the corner and bangs her head into a wall* Sometimes people just irritate me like no other! :/ I'm tired of people passive aggressively attacking me but acting like it's ok because they're doing it under the guise of 'I statements'. -.- -.- And then when I try to explain myself in a calm manner, I get accused of lashing out and being full of anger, when I am doing my absolute best to hold my anger at bay and explain myself calmly... I just GIVE UP! :(

I'm not a bad person, she says... yet, I'm the one who apparently is ok to lash back at because she's hurt... it's all about her... Always... -.- *keeps on banging her head into the wall before throwing rocks at the stupid person* ((It's not anyone that any of y'all know, don't worry. I'd not be bad mouthing someone who was on here publicly. This is a friend from elsewhere who's doing this. Although I'm starting to really question the term 'friend'.))

They probably just don't realize that's what they're doing. They might be trying to help by giving examples of how they'd handle something.

I don't really know though because I'm not you. :(

I'm sorry I ever said anything about it here... Forget I ever said anything, because all I do whenever I voice how I feel on this site... I get yelled at and told that I just need to shut up.... And it's my fault... so never mind - forget I said anything.... -.-
