well it was more than just bones, it was like cadavers that were cut in halves (horizontally and vertically) and all kinds of other ways so that people could see inside a human body. sounds gnarly

EWWW YUCK! Gnarly indeed, I think I'll pass on that...

Hi Kirin, not much round these parts. Should be doing college algebra homework and washing laundry.

I saw pictures of it.

I know that there was a huge uproar about it, but I thought it looked really cool.
Beautiful in a way.

A couple years ago they had an exhibit with donated cadavers the way you guys have been describing. We took the kids for an outing and saw it. All of them were 'donated' bodies from China and apparently had legal paperwork. They had bodies posed in different athletic poses showing the different layers of muscle. They also had displays where they had the body almost shaved in very paper thin slices vertically and horizontally so you could see what the body looked layer by layer. It was quite the experience and it was done in a tasteful manner where like one person said you probably wouldn't of thought it was 'real' if you weren't told otherwise.

The whole family enjoyed it. Even the 'sensitive' area they had screened off as it dealt with unborn babies and showed fetuses at different developments. It's sad to think that those are tiny little lives that didn't get to be, but still amazing getting to see first hand how life performs its little miracles.

I would highly recommend it. It sounds weird coming from me as I'm usually rather squeamish and would be that person who would faint at the sight of blood...this was different. They preserved everything and displayed it in a way that I really didn't find it bothered me.

That sounds like the exhibit I was thinking of, Izumi.

I would have loved to see it in person.

Ohh if it comes nearby to where you live definitely go to see it. It is amazing.

Speaking of which...I haven't checked to see if anything interesting has been on exhibit at the local museum. It would be fun to do another family trip. I'm just waiting until finances aren't so tight. :/ I think the next big outing will be to see "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2". My stepdaughter and I really want to go see it...

I really liked Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
It was a funny flick. Generally sequels aren't as good though.

I love to visit museums.

Um, hi. I hope you guys don't mind me joining the thread!

I actually went to see with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs with my school and I hated it, not because it was a bad movie, but because I pretty much had nightmares about giant food coming to life and trying to kill me after I watched it.

AND we have a gigantic walk-through banana as a tourist attraction in Australia, which didn't exactly help calm my fears

Interesting tourist attractions for sure.....why a banana of all things, though?

I'm pretty sure the banana is near a banana plantation, though, when it comes to Australia, we have huge statues of pretty much everything. There's the Big Pineapple, Big Merino, there's even the Big Poo. There's literally a Wikipedia page called "Australia's big things".
