I listen to music when I'm stressed and such. And I'm so excited that it's coming on Christmas music time. I'm going to try and make it till after Thanksgiving before putting it in my CD player but it's so hard.
Mmm. Actually, reading a good story or watching a movie/show I enjoy works just as well. I think I just need a distraction. To step out of reality for a while.
I find that my mood often depends on the songs I listen to, so if I feel down and hear a sad song, I feel sad, but if I change it to a happy song I feel happy.
But usually sad songs make me feel happy not because of the content of the song but because of the memories I have associated with the song. Like, there's a song about a breakup that my favorite artist sings, but when I hear it I get happy because I remember how happy I was when I first heard the song and how many awesome memories I have of listening to that song and doing something fun or awesome.
What a song makes me feel is always very much to do with the song itself and not the circumstances I first heard it.
Of course, I'm more likely to like it if in that circumstance I can relate to it.
