Oh. Remembered that wrong.
But I recall it being a much coveted job or something because they the first three years off from doing much of anything.
...What kind of work do the other people do anyway? I mean, I know the kid's dad was the one who killed babies if there are twins, but besides weighing and measuring the babies and stuff, what else does he do? It seems like a rather easy job compared to manual labor for the rest of their working life like with the child-birthers...

You have to apply for a spouse, then apply for children three years later.
WTH
I need to read this again, and see how different it is to my brain now.

Haha yeah, I should probably read it again since it's been so long ago and my English was way worse back then so a lot of the events probably flew right over my head. XD
I remember wondering what the big deal was about learning all the 'old history' stuff...like, I didn't understand the part about the pain and war and such at all. I don't get why they all called it like learning about it would be a great pain and suffering and stuff, since a lot of those things you'd have to personally experience it before it would get to you, and just reading or hearing about it barely does anything. Unless, of course, my theory about them being not-humans and are actually empathetic aliens with a hive-like mind is true so that even though none of them have ever lived through any of that, they'd still feel the horror and etc just be learning about history. >_>

It looks like it's gonna be cool. No pun intended~ I forgot we could do white text. I need to use that more. It's fun.
I had to read it for school. Would've been alright, if, y'know, we didn't have to do assignments on it.

I can't remember why I had been reading that book in the first place.
I use white text for either spoilers or when I needed certain spaces for image titles and whatnot.

I read it in like 4th grade, or 5th grade - I think? So Elementary school, at least for me. I could be wrong though, I don't honestly remember, but I have read it - but it was years ago.

I guess they didn't deem it appropriate for small children here.
I didn't read Brave New World until High school.

I think I might have read it back in fourth grade or something if it was an assignment, since that was as far as I got education-wise back in the states before I left. @@

I never read Brave New World, but a high school teacher highly recommended it. I read The Giver in seventh grade. I didn't know so many people read it as an assignment. Whoa.

I also read The Giver in like the fourth grade, it was one of the few books from school I actually liked (I now own two copies of the book c:). I'm terrified to watch. movie, the trailers looked so bad and I don't know if I'll be able to separate them. gah. why must people always ruin books when they turn them into movies

Do. Not. Watch. That. Movie. Read the book!
Apparently they added a bunch of subtext to the movie that didn't exist in the book. They also created a major character out of a character that was mentioned in two lines.
