There's a lot of shelters open - and places for animals, both small and large, and a ton of people, including us, have donated a ton of stuff, and money, to try to help out as best we can.

Drought and winds most likely. There's a lot of fires in California, this one's just huge

I remember seeing a video where it's someone's dashboard cam and it was sort of glowy with snow in the air despite it being at night, and then the person turned their dashboard cam to the side and we saw that the entire mountain beside the highway they were on was on fire and the snow was actually ash.

That's pure nightmare fuel

Yeah, a lot of the commenters were saying things like Wtf and if the person's alright with that happening almost right beside them.

It really is so dry here... fire fuel.

Yeah, I also heard something about trees imported from Australia a hundred years ago are also great at burning?

Eucalyptus - yeah, those things burn like crazy. >.<

I guess those aren't helping; though I thought they'd all burned up in the last wild fire.

I'm not sure how many are up in the fire up close to us -- well close in terms of proximity, not as in close that we're in danger because we're not.
There's a lot of things that aren't working with the firefighters with any of the fires that are being fought right now. :(

Wow, is there anything being done about the fires or are they allowed to run rampant until they burn out on their own?

Oh, well the only one I've been following what's going on with it -- is the one that's like 3 hours northish of where I live -- that fire has a crazy pile of people on it. They are fighting all the fires as best they can with as many people as they can get on them to try to get it as under control as fast as they can get it under control. But the elements are making it hard as it's been super windy and with little to no rain, things are so dry! D:

Whoa, that's a lot of resources yet the containment percentage is so low! I hope the weather cooperates and they can get the fire under control soon.

Technically they've only been working at it for coming up Day 6 -- 35% contained is better than being lower than that - it started around 6:30 am on the 8th.

But in those almost 6 days -- this is the destruction:

Structures Destroyed: 7,600 residences, 260 commercial
