Lessa just snorted at her and didn't dignify that with a proper response.

"I'm going to go work on food," she said. "Go play with your boys."

"It's not playing~" Lavender protested. "And they're not mine."

Lessa just snorted at her and headed for the kitchen to go bake and start dinner. Especially since she had a ton of mouths to feed.

Lavender rolled her eyes in return and headed downstairs to see what was going on.

Bruce and Tony were still trying to come up with new ways to analyze and track the energy signature they'd gotten off the bad guy last time he'd shown up, and almost didn't notice when Lavender came in.

Lavender slipped into the lab and just settled in to watch what they were doing. There was a lot of science going back and forth between them, and that wasn't something she typically liked to get in the middle of.

It took a while before they got to a pausing point, and by that time it was mostly because they realized they were hungry and had skipped lunch. Bruce got up and stretched a bit with a little sigh.

"So..." Lavender tentatively broke the silence. "For those of us who don't speak science, what was going on?"

"Attempting to track energy signatures," Bruce said as Tony snorted and got to his feet as well. "Which is not easy." Bruce took off his glasses to rub his eyes.

"Yeah, I noticed," Lavender said, nodding. She looked at Bruce. "Headache?"

"Just a mild one," Bruce said. "Too many hours staring at a screen."

"Not like staring at paper is better," Tony shot back, though he also looked a little worn down. "Jarvis, what time is it?"

"Nearly six in the evening, sir," Jarvis replied.

"Already?" Tony blinked, as did Bruce.

"Lessa's working on dinner," Lavender volunteered. "I have something for headaches, if either of you wants it. I get migraines, so I always keep some headache stuff."

"No thanks," Bruce said with a little smile.

"I've probably got better stuff," Tony said with a little shrug, because he did need it occasionally. "But food sounds good. I'm going to go make sure it's edible."

"It is, but you can go test it anyways," Lavender said. "How long has it been since your last actual meal?" She looked at Tony.

Tony shrugged helplessly, so Jarvis answered.

"Approximately dinner last night," the AI said. "They have both had snacks through the day, however." Bruce, at least, had the grace to look a bit sheepish.

"Then I won't push about it," Lavender said. "You could always use more regular meals, but at least once a day is something."

Tony just snorted and headed up to the kitchen to check on dinner.

"He's bad about food," Bruce mused after Tony had gone. "He forgets. All the time."

"I've heard," Lavender said. "They actually briefed us about that, before we started this thing." She glanced at him. "You sure you don't want that headache thing? You look like it's still bothering you."

"It's fine. I'll make some tea." Bruce smiled a bit. "Thank you, though." He fixed his glasses a bit and headed for the door, not in any big hurry but figuring he should probably go leash in Tony before he set something on fire.

"Let me know if you change your mind," Lavender said. "Like I said, I keep plenty, I get migraines." She got up and followed him upstairs.

Bruce just nodded and deftly stepped around Tony, who was badgering Lessa and trying to steal tastes of the food, to set a kettle on to boil.

"Would you like some?" He looked at Lavender.

Lavender blinked a bit, surprised.

"Sure," she said. "If it's not too much trouble."

Bruce nodded and poured in a bit of extra water, setting out two mugs instead of his normal one. He normally made enough for a few cups of tea at a time anyway, so this wasn't all that abnormal.

Tony still noticed it, however.

"Brucie~" he said, sidling up next to Bruce. "Two mugs? Really?"

"Some people do like tea, Tony," Bruce said, raising an eyebrow. "Not everyone exists on coffee."
