Lessa ended up staying there through the night, though at some point she did fall asleep against him, just trying to give him some measure of comfort while she could.

Loki let her fall asleep on him, although he did little more than doze from time to time. He didn't want to sleep; the possibility of dreams was just too great.

When Lessa woke up in the morning, she glanced over at him to see if he looked any better. She doubted it, but she had to check. It hadn't been very long yet, after all. These things took time.

Loki hadn't moved from where he was sitting. He was a god, he could stay in one spot for a long time before he had to move at all.

Lessa managed to get to her feet with a bit of a groan. Yup, she'd be feeling that in her neck for days.

"Come on, let's get you some breakfast," she said, looking down at him.

"I would rather not," Loki replied quietly, not moving. "I am not hungry."

Lessa eyed him for a few moments, internally debating, before she nodded. "Alright. I'm going to get some breakfast, then." And then she'd be back to check on him. She'd give him a few days before she started making a nuisance of herself.

Loki just let her go. For the moment, he didn't want to do anything. He could barely muster the energy to care that he was wearing the same clothes as the day before, and he certainly didn't care about changing them yet.

Lessa gave him a few days to start caring about things again before she decided she needed to help him along. Apathy was one of the quickest ways to get stuck somewhere, after all.

So she started prodding him into eating and going for little walks around the tower with her.

Loki was remarkably stubborn in his apathy. It was easier than actually feeling anything, and he didn't think he could feel anything besides pain at the moment, anyways.

"I am not hungry," he said quietly when Lessa tried to prod him along for a meal.

"It doesn't matter if you're hungry, you should eat," Lessa said. Pretty soon she was going to start trying to get him angry, at least. Anger was better than apathy. "I'll even leave you alone for a while if you do eat."

Loki saw the white lie for what it was, but didn't bother pointing it out. He knew she wouldn't leave him alone; to be honest, he kind of counted on it, lately. Instead, he got up quietly and gestured for her to lead the way.

Lessa grinned at her minor victory and led him into the kitchen so she could make something for the two of them quickly, hoping none of the others were around. They weren't exactly kind to Loki, not that she could really blame them. But still.

Loki let her putter around the kitchen, sitting down at the table and watching her. Normally, he would be investigating any sweets there might be, but at the moment, he didn't bother. He just watched quietly.

Lessa made some dinner for them and put down a plate of sweets next to Loki. She was still working on her dinner when Thor got back from his visit to Jane. She paused and looked over at him, half-hoping he wouldn't say anything.

Loki didn't even glance at his brother, even as he felt a sudden jolt of anger course through him. He didn't want to even look at Thor right now, let alone interact with him. Reaching over, he grabbed a pastry to distract himself with.

For a few moments, Thor looked startled at seeing Loki in the kitchen. Then he just looked angry, looking at Lessa.

"What are you doing?" he demanded.

"Having dinner. Or trying to." Lessa shifted a bit so she was closer to Loki.

"You're having dinner with him."

"And?"

"And he's a traitor! You should just leave him be in his cell." Thor glowered at her.

"Oh really? I should?" Lessa's eyes narrowed as she looked at him, standing up a bit taller.

"He is a traitor to Asgard! He tried to take over this planet!"

"And what of it?" Lessa's temper snapped. "He lost his mother too! He helped you when you needed him to! Just because you left him in a cell to rot doesn't mean he doesn't have feelings, and he doesn't have a scientist in England to run to and take comfort with!"

"Do not bring Jane into this," Thor said, eyes narrowing. "Loki will always betray you, it is just a matter of time. He should be kept where he can do the least harm."

Lessa growled something about stubborn men. "Fine. If he does do anything to compromise anyone here, I'll take responsibility for it. But I won't leave him to sit and wither away in that room."

"You do not understand," Thor said. "By rights, I should take him back to Asgard to answer for his crimes. Only because Mother would not want it so has our father's hand been stayed."

"You are completely unreasonable. He's your brother. You don't just leave your brother somewhere to sit and rot, no matter what he's done. There are reasons for everything. Did you ever try talking to him about why he did what he did?" Lessa glowered up at Thor, unwilling to back down on this issue.

"I am long past the time when I would trust his words," Thor replied. "Every time I have done so in the past, I have been made more the fool. I want to believe he might still be my brother, but I now know better than to trust him."

"I never said trust him. I know that's too much to ask right now. You don't have to trust him. You just have to have a little sympathy. He's hurting just as much as you are right now." Lessa looked at him, raising one eyebrow. "I don't expect you to spend time with him, but don't get so upset when I do."

Thor opened his mouth to keep arguing, but Loki finally spoke up.

"Oh do continue, brother," he said quietly. "Try to convince her that she is a weak mortal in need of protection from the monster. It is no more than any other Aesir would do. Am I not the monster mothers warn their children about?"

That put Lessa's hackles up again, but this time she didn't try to keep arguing. She just gave Loki a Look before she shifted so she could tug him to his feet.

"Come on, clearly we've overstayed our welcome in the kitchen."
