I remember seeing adverts for Zatch Bell back when it first aired on Adult Swim. I just remember thinking that it looked really weird.

I've heard Ikki Tousen is pretty bad, but I've never watched it. Can anyone else confirm/deny?

Googled it... American title is "Battle Vixens"... this screams fanservice anime...
As does their insanely short skirts.

Short skirts and the fact that their tops are apparently tissue paper in battle.

It doesn't help that the animation sucks, especially for the first season. If you're going to do fanservice, at least have the decency to do it well. :U

If it starts out poorly, like a webcomic the quality should at least get better as they go on.

One would think so.

Time for thread material and unpopular opinions, but I never liked Death Note. I liked the openings, but that's about it. :/

Interesting... what is it about? Is it that whole Azumanga Daioh approach or Pani Poni Dash approach? Or is it more off than that?

I don't remember the name of it, but it involved a boy who had a perverted crow that fused onto his arm to make a cannon.

That cover of Cat Soup looks freaky rather than cute, or is it just me? Also now that I think about it, the tittle alone is kind of creepy if you think about it.

Worst anime... Worst anime...

Well as othes, I didn't like Zach Bell. It had a horrible time slot between Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist, though I even fell out of Naruto a bit, though that's mostly because I found it odd that my little, little cousins were getting into it.

One Piece. It was in this bad slot before Naruto on Adult Swim and I just couldn't get into it; I tried and I just found it too moronic.

I do agree that InuYasha went on for too long. The first run through wasn't bad, but seriously, why break the stupid shard again?! That and I REALLY didn't like Kagome... Nor did I like Orihime from Bleach, I thought she got too involved in everything when she didn't need to. Then again, I didn't really watch that one, I only read the first few volumes of manga.

There are a lot of manga gone anime I didn't care for too; I loved the manga of DNAngel and Fruits Basket, but their anime counterpart was rather sad. Or it could have just been the English dubs were that bad (probably why I do more with subbed now).

*scans through other posts quickly to see if they get anything going in my mind*

One that I will probably avoid in the future would be Attack on Titan. It has nothing to do with it being bad (I wouldn't know, I have never seen it), but I already have enough issues with my favorite characters dieing in shows let alone all the people being killed/eaten by titans. I would just save myself from getting attached to characters or risking nightmares of weird giant-things by just avoiding that series >.>

English dubs can be pretty bad. I enjoyed D.N. Angel and Fruits Basket (I watched subbed). FB wasn't near long enough though... would have been nice if they introduced all of them a bit more.

Once Piece is weird I agree... but it draws on way too long. It's STILL not done... I think they could have easily finished it by now.

I watched the Fruits Basket anime three times, first time in Japanese with English subs, then I watched a Mandarin Chinese dubbed version which was actually not too bad in terms of keeping the voices similar to the original...then I watched the English dub too, because I could.

Eherm...now then to keep to topic of worst anime...there is one, Tenchi Muyo, which I get the impression is liked by a lot of people, it didn't leave an impression on me, at all...I watched several episodes a long time ago, and I've forgotten it. I may like it if I watched it again, but I doubt I'll ever bother.

I rewatched .hack//SIGN after falling sleep through a poorly subbed version, and when I say poorly subbed, I mean they used completely wrong names for some of the main characters, including the protagonist. And while I felt I got an understanding of the story and all that it wasn't overly impressive. I felt the initial concept was a good and interesting one and was left disappointed.

Some dubs just make me want to cry... for the sheer horrors they are. Like they picked total strangers off the street to dub random people.

The worst anime ever? Hmmm...Welcome to the NHK went right over my head. I didn't care for it. I'm surprised the girl who decided to help the main character didn't wind up in a psych ward somewhere. She was crazy and annoying. Then while I won't add Dragonball and Dragonball Z to the list fully, all the overuse of flashbacks and "Grrr! I'm flexing at you while you monologue!" bored me terribly.

hack/sign is the first one, right? I watched it after I'd started watching Sword Art Online, and realized that both were going for the same concept. The problem with hack/sign is that its main character is too Shinji. He's too passive, too unwilling to fix his problem. It's a character trope that's no longer really relevant, but used to be appealing because a lot of teens could identify with the feeling of helpless depression in a changing world.

(... Yeah, there's a reason for my username.)

i hate to say it, but Fruits Basket. the manga is awesome, definitely one of my favorites!! but the anime just sucks in comparison. the artwork in it is a little crappy, the story was messed up a bit, and for crying out loud, they didnt even finish the story!!!! the anime only follows thru about 6 volumes with little bit from further on. that just leaves it with such a lousy ending :(

I actually really liked the Fruits Basket anime, I watched it 3 times, each time in a different spoken language, first time was Japanese version I watched with English subs, then I watched it in Mandarin with Chinese subtitles and finally I watched it with the English dubbing... and cringed over Yuki's English voice.

The only real fault I could find with the anime was the lack of the Horse and Chicken zodiac characters which made it clear that there was more to the story. The soundtrack and animation style was a nice interpretation of the feel of the manga in my opinion. The reason people dislike the anime, and in many ways understandably so, is that they compare it to the manga which had a lot more depth and elements in the story. The anime captures the essence of the manga and works well as a standalone story apart from the lack of horse and chicken characters.

I'll note that I watched the Fruit Basket anime in its entirety before reading the manga and was partway through reading the manga when watching it the other two times. I suppose being exposed to the story through the anime first may have skewed my opinion.

It wasn't bad but because the original voice actor for Yuki had a very feminine voice who I suspect may have actually been a woman, the English dubbers didn't even attempt to find a similar sounding voice so masculine sounding Yuki was the result....unlike the Chinese who actually did a relatively decent attempt at getting the voices to sound similar to the original Japanese.
