Allyn got out as well, glancing around before following Primrose over to the front door.

"This is where you live?"

"Yeah," Primrose replied, opening the door. "This is home. Topside, at least. Home-home is still under the surface."

Allyn nodded, looking around. "Looks pretty nice, I guess. For the lack of kelp and fish." He grinned briefly.

Primrose grinned a bit and rolled her eyes.

"Worlds better than the tank," she pointed out. She headed towards her bedroom. "I'm going to put on something proper, and then we're going out to dinner. I doubt I have anything worth cooking in the kitchen by now."

Allyn nodded, finding a place to sit and adjust his clothing a bit. It would suffice for the moment, at least.

Primrose changed quickly and came back out.

"Come on," she said. "I know a place you'll like." She grinned a bit, grabbing her keys.

Allyn raised his eyebrows but followed her back out to her car, letting her drive while he looked around. He was curious to see more of the human world, and this was really his first chance to do so.

Primrose started driving towards town. She bypassed all of the big, popular restaurants and pulled into a small plaza. There was a grocery store on one end and an ice cream place on the other, but right in the middle of the strip was a small sushi place. Primrose parked the car in front of the sushi place.

"Come on," she said to Allyn. "This is it."

Allyn nodded and got out of the car, though he let her keep control. He wasn't familiar with the human world, after all, and he didn't want to get them in trouble. So he followed her lead.

"How do your tastes in fish run?" Primrose asked as they were seated inside. "Anything in particular, or are you not that picky?"

"I like more red and pink fish," he said, settling in. "I'm not such a fan of white fish."

Primrose nodded to show she heard and glanced at the menu. When the waiter came around, she gave their order and then sat back a bit.

Allyn settled back as well, watching the humans curiously. The more information he could get, the better he'd be able to blend later on.

Primrose noticed and grinned a bit.

"I people-watched at the beginning, too," she commented. "It's kind of fun."

"It is... interesting," Allyn said quietly. "Many of them are ignorant of everything around them."

"Just try not to draw their attention," Primrose replied. "I can guarantee most of them have been to the aquarium, and there are bound to be some who will recognize us." She made a bit of a face. "You and His Majesty made headlines across the country, at least. People know about our kind, now, they just have no idea how to find more of us."

"Which is good. I would not volunteer any of our kind for that." Although it did make Allyn curious about how many more of the commoners in the mer-city had moved up on land.

"Neither would I," Primrose replied. She was quiet for a moment. "Lilac and I are the only ones I know about in this town, but I have no idea how many others there might be. I just hope if there are more of us out there, they're smart enough to keep their heads down." She wasn't worried about any below the surface, really; the ones on land were in more danger.

Allyn nodded. Any mermaid with a decent sense of self-preservation would know to keep quiet, and if they couldn't figure it out, then they weren't taught properly or something.

Primrose smiled a bit when the sushi arrived.

"Have at it," she said. "They make good stuff here."

Allyn nodded and started on the sushi. It was good, and he took his time sampling everything.

Primrose took her time with her sushi as well, savoring it. Some of it was more exotic than she normally got, so she made sure to enjoy it.

It was definitely a different preparation from what Allyn was used to, but not all of it was strange. So he enjoyed the meal quite a bit.

"So, enjoying being topside?" Primrose asked after a little while.

"It's interesting," Allyn said with a little shrug. "I don't know if I enjoy it more or less than being home, but this part is an experience. Much better than being inside."
