I saw a few cause a client wanted to go to the movies. Hummy should see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. One of my favorite movies of all time now.

They live very productive lives with this company. That's the goal. Heck they have more of a life than I do!

That's what they used to do with disabled people in the past.
Very often in the past a disabled individual was killed or shoved as far away from society as they could manage.

The company I work for is the polar opposite of that. Founded specifically to give them a second chance.
We've taken clients who were considered psychotic, and gotten them to live semi productive lives. Amazing what happens if you try.

oh i totally agree
patients who no one could handle
i had no trouble with
the nurses all asked me what my secret was
umm, i don't let them sit in their own excretions
i treat them with respect and they are happy to see me

You can handle anyone, so long as you have enough compassion and patience.
Was hummy a nurse at one time?

no just an aide and then i worked in the kitchen
they treat the residents like garbage
it really broke my heart
when i went to kitchen staff the residents cried
but, it was breaking my heart to see it every day
i was much happier feeding them and making sure they got enough food
see, the nurses thought the less amount in the less amount out
but, honestly meals were their high points of the day.
so i still did bed pans and changed laundry, too
this one nurse used to hit them if they had an accident
i mean you ignore the help button you get an accident
she was so mean and hateful

An aide? Sounds like what I do now, except at their own homes.
It's sad that people can work in that and be so mean... a lot of people have stolen from clients :(
One woman threatened a client to keep quiet about getting in a crash... and she's been permanently impaired because of it...
I have one client that actually came out to see me when I showed up to work today, it was nice ^^

yeah it is sort of
you do all the stuff the nurses don't want to
no meds or anything, that's all the nurses.
it's crazy how horrible people can be to other PEOPLE
i never understand it
why work with people if you suck at being kind?
or at the very least compassionate
when iwent to the kitchen staff i told her i was watching her
i saw all of the patients that were room bound for each meal
i would check them to see if they had bruises and were clean
when they weren't i would tell the head nurse
can't fire me from kitchen staff
*sticks tongue out*
they put her on midshift to let her keep her job
i'm happy your clients are glad to see you
it helps both way, you feel good and so do they
it is a very rewarding job

The meds are the easy part though. I do those.
I know right? So amazing how people will take this kind of work and treat them so badly...
Yknow today my client actually wanted to "file a complaint" against me because I follow the rules too strictly
We're not allowed to accept food or items from a client no matter what, and he keeps trying to offer me candy and cupcakes.

yeah but meds take a nurse to administer them
it is truly amazing how evil people can be
when they think no one sees them
God sees everything
aw, you can't accept anything?
one of the residents used to force oatmeal cookies on me
i would keep captain waffers in my apron and he would trade me
he always would come in the dining room and ask me if he'd eaten
it used to make me cry
so i started keeping the crackers he liked in my apron pocket
if he was hungry he would find me.

Really? I wasn't even delegated by a nurse. I just give them the pill and some water.
Nah can't accept things, it's considered exploiting a client and is illegal in the company.
What's a captain wafer?
Sounds like you would love the kind of company I work for. Anyone who exploits or hits a client is fired on the spot, even 2-3 no shows can get you fired. They really take their staff seriously.

it's a cracker
more buttery than a saltine
they were his favorite kinds
and the ladies would always eat them first
so i would always keep some set aside for him.
i do like the company you work for, it's important to treat people with respect.
ya know,' there but for the grace of God go I?'
i try to treat people as i would want to be treated.

That's rather mean... they ate his food too? Gosh was it not illegal to neglect and take advantage of them?
Yeah, treat others as you want to be treated. It's so easy to think that a disabled person is just that, a disabled person. Some of them have more active lives than you do.
