We're fortunate enough in the newer versions that you might have a chance to fill it up without a lot of interaction.
But those old-school days when you had to use a cable and be less than a foot away from the other person, it's almost laughable by today's standards.

Hey, it was secure, though. And kept it more exclusive, which is part of how you make something super-popular.
They knew what they were doing! But yeah, everything's easier with wireless internets.

I thought it was pretty cool how the newer versions let you have a monster outside of the ball.

That is cool... but the pokemon game I bought was broken :(
I need to buy more pokemon games now...
I plan to play the earlier generations and go up from there.

Ahh, no way! How did that happen?!
One of my games has a known glitch where it just freezes and shuts down every so often. I wouldn't mind too terribly much, except when I do a lot of work for the day (it's a Harvest Moon game) and then it just quits, I have to put the game down before restarting. A little frustrating at times, but hey, I'm managing. I just can't get enough.
You don't think that's...masochistic, do you?

No, it's a glitch with the game itself, regardless of how many cards I purchase. There were reports that the digital version didn't have the same issue, but I'm unwilling to purchase such an old game for $30.
Ah, well, perhaps you can fix the battery or find a new game.

That was a good one, my favourite before I started to play this one.
Right now I'm in...Tale of Two Towns. Kind of an interesting dynamic, but The Harvest Goddess is a little less likable...(u___u;; )

She's a little more integrated in this version. The two towns are fighting, and the goddess demands that you fix the problem. She will pop up at these little markers like catching 30 fish by hand, 60, 100, 300, and of certain types of things, too, so it gets a little annoying in the first round of things.

It's kind of the point of the game, or rather, part of the bigger progression storyline. You increase this giant ten-heart meter that's supposed to represent the Mayors' feelings towards each other and the opposite towns. It's done by competing in cooking contests that are held four times a month; salad, soup, main dish, and dessert. Eventually you unlock a tunnel between the towns and it's easier to travel.
And at that point, you sort of just go about your normal Harvest Moon routine.

In the grand scheme of things, that seems to be it. It's kind of cute to see their reactions with each other at first, when they're really angry. And after you start filling up the meter, you can see the restraint, and eventually there's a great coming-together. Gourmet makes a comeback, too, but he's much skinnier in this version.
And marriage is a little strange, because most candidates look like children....(T___T;; )
