Though I'll need to poke my gold count a few more times before I'd be able to afford the 3k or so they sell for XD

yes I am starting to try to sell some stuff too because I had some extra items piling up in my inventory that I didn't know what to do with. I am glad that Menewsha lets us use multiple poses of the same item as long as we own at least one of the item. I know that some avatar sites, like GaiaOnline, do not let us do that

Yeah I was never fond of that. I remember having to use tektek (until they took it down if I remember right), to see what I needed and in needing 4 or 5 of an item it costs an insane amount of gold for what would be 1 here.

I think so. Something about "stealing their artwork" or whatever to use on their site. There was a big flashy deal about it and stuff.
They had a partnership at one point, but I think it was because his advertisements had other sites on it sometimes. Something he had no control over.

Ohh okay I can understand that. I suppose he might have been generating revenue from that website due to the advertisements that were leading to other places (and now that I think about it, maybe that is how I found Roliana and Menewsha? through this advertisement banners on tektek way back when?) But has there been any replacement for tektek in that case? I remember it being super helpful, and the person who created it even kept it fairly updated with new items and such (not sure how someone had so much time on his hands to do it, but he was impressive and did it!) with the poses and even marketplace values.

I don't think so. If so I'm sure it's covered in payment plans.
It's not like Gaia was hurting for users or anything.

I guess so, but ahhh I don't know. I was under the impression that Gaia became at least a tad bit money-hungry, so the fact that tektek might have been closed down due to things like advertisements going to other websites and all...I don't know. I have to think about this again.

Yes I did log on just to see what it was like maybe around two weeks ago. I was surprised but I guess in a more pleasant way that they now have the gaia cash option in the marketplace on there. That is, you can now buy other people's items using gaia cash. I think that makes perfect sense, actually. It is, after all, a currency in itself. And I can't really tell if this makes them more or less money hungry now that gaia cash can flow between users, but all in all, I still do love gaiaonline's avatars and items -- I think they are extremely well made. I just haven't really been going on there due to the hyperinflation (so I can't really afford to buy anything anymore) and instead been on Menewsha.

I am not 100% sure, but I think all of the store items can be bought for either gaia gold or gaia cash. And there are some stores that only feature items that can be exclusively bought with gaia cash. Regarding the marketplace, when you sell an item, you can choose whether or not to include the gaia cash option. So, you have to sell all of your items for gaia gold, but can also give the option to sell for gaia cash. Then, the buyer gets to choose what he or she wants to spend on your item.

Well, basically people are going to want the Gaia cash because in the long run it's more valuable, as gold increasingly becomes worthless over time. (They have a massively inflated market). So make unreasonable gold price, and then list for reasonable cash price.

Well I think the way the marketplace works right now is that the gaia cash to gaia gold conversion has a set rate. So you can't choose a gaia cash price to list it at. You can only choose what price to list it at in gaia gold, and then the system automatically converts it to the gaia cash equivalent amount.

I guess they are implementing that system on purpose to prevent users from being able to list items at whatever amount of gaia cash they want to, which would skew the conversion rate

Makes sense... but unfortunately in doing that they force the gaia cash to be worth what they want it to be worth... meaning they control the marketplace.

Ah, good point. I guess there are pros and cons to it. At least this set conversion rate prevents artificial inflation by users. But then again, maybe the users would use a lower conversion rate on average.
