Kirin was the ruler of a kingdom of dragons. Though he and those in his kingdom were special. They could change into humanoids. Though they retained the coloring of their dragon forms. They also kept their wings when they became humanoid.

Kirin had just gotten some very disturbing news, a human had been caught hunting in the woods of his kingdom. The only ones allowed to hunt in the woods were those of Kirin's kingdom. The human had been put in the dungeon. He had been there for several hours.

Kirin headed down to the dungeons. Normally he would let others deal with problems of this sort, but something drew him to deal with this himself. His robes brushed against the ground as he moved down the stairs.

Soon Kirin was standing outside the cell that the human had been put in. "He is being treated well I hope." He said to the guard.

"Of course your majesty." The guard said with a slight bow.

"Good." Kirin said as he stepped into the cell.

Kat Dakuu:

Cain sat in the cell with his legs drawn up to his chest. His black hair with its few white streaks fell into his face, but he didn't bother to brush it away. Instead, he pulled his fur lined leather jacket closer around his arms. He was tucked in the furthest corner of the cell, his eyes forever watching the door for any sign of activity.

Cain was a traveler and he knew that he shouldn't have been hunting in strange lands, but he hadn't cared at the time. Successful hunting elsewhere had been limited at best and the life of a traveler was starting to wear on him. He may have been young, but he was hardy enough not look it most of the time. Still, he hadn't expected to be captured and dragged into this dungeon.

The cell door swung open and someone stepped into the room. Cain gave the man a challenging grin. "Hey there. You here to tell me what I did to deserve this?" he asked.

Kirin looked the young man up and down. He could tell that the man was young, even though he didn't look it. He knew to that this man was a traveler, though that didn't excuse what he had done. If Kirin were being honest with himself the young man was rather good looking. He can also tell that his guard hadn't been lying when he said that the prisoner wasn't being mistreated. He spots the untouched food.

"You should eat, I can tell you are hungry." Kirin said ignoring the question that had been asked. Though he would get around to answering it.

Cain glared at the man. He appeared to be someone in power which was interesting enough with him being here. In Cain's experience, this was usual. The man was also clearly not human. He'd obviously gotten himself into something real messy this time.

After a sidelong glance at the food he hadn't bothered eating even though he was hungry, Cain looked back to the strange man. "What's it matter to you that I didn't feel like eating?" he complained. He didn't know why he had to be so ornery but he was irritated about being here and that made him less cooperative that usual. Not that he was an overly cooperative person from the start.

"It doesn't, but I can tell you are hungry." Kirin said just watching the young man. He was fascinated by him, he could admit that to himself. Though he didn't appreciate the ornery temper he could move beyond that. This young man didn't seem scared when he saw him. In Kirin's experiences most humans were scared of his kind.

Cain found himself watching the other man again. He may have looked rather scary, but he was being unexpectedly nice. That sort of behavior was just the sort of thing that made Cain mistrust people. No captor should care so much about if his captive was eating. It just skewed the balance too much and meant there was an ulterior motive involved. Cain glared again and clenched his hands in the tough material of his pants. "Well thanks for the offer, but I think I'll just eat when I want to," he said. Like, maybe when this rich looking guy wasn't around watching. "If you want something from me, you better say it outright or leave."

"To go back to your earlier question of why you are here." Kirin said when the young man refused to eat. "The answer to that question is simple. You were caught hunting in my forest. Which is illegal to all but those who live in my kingdom." Kirin said watching Cain. He was fascinated by this man.

Well that was just dandy wasn't it? Cain huffed out a little sigh and turned his attention back to one of the cell's walls. He knew he shouldn't have been hunting, but what kind of rule was it that no one else was allowed to hunt in those woods? It all seemed mighty unfair to the rest of the world. "Well that's just swell," Cain said with a frown. "So what are you going to do to me?"

Kirin watched the young man for a moment before answering. "I could you have you killed." He stated his voice calm. "But that is a rather messy business, and to much in my opinion. Never did like the whole killing for trivial things." He said with a disgusted sigh. "So I have decided to make you my personal assistant." He watched the young man for his reaction.

A chill went through Cain at the mention of killing, but the feeling quickly passed to be replaced by a flood of anger. "What?!" he exclaimed as his voice jumped higher. He half jumped forward so he was on his knees instead of huddling in the corner. He glared up at the strange man, his eyes widening just slightly. "I don't want to be anyone's assistant. I would rather you just killed me!" He bit his lip after his last words and looked down as he dropped into a squat. No, death was a bit excessive. But he really did dislike being told what to do.

Kirin inwardly winced as the young made it clear he would rather be dead. That hurt him more then he had thought possible. What was it about this young main that made Kirin want to let him go free. "I'd free you if I could, but that is not possible. And I won't kill you, no matter how much you might want it." He said his voice taking on a rather sad tone. "So if you don't wish to serve me, your only other option is life in prison." He turned and headed towards the door.

Cain considered the man's words for a few long seconds, still only looking at the floor. He didn't want to go back on his words. That wasn't the kind of person he was, but he wanted to stay in prison for his entire life even less than he wanted to do. It didn't help that the man sounded almost sad, like he really did want to help Cain. He looked back up at the strange man with a scowl on his face. "F-fine! I'll do what you want. Okay? I'll be your assistant if that's what you want. Just don't make me stay in here," he cried, hating how desperate his voice sounded. He wanted to sound angry, but he was having issues with sounding that way right now.

"Then come along." Kirin said as he stopped at the door. He could hear the desperation in the young mans voice but made not comment on it. He waited for the young man to come with him. "So what shall I call you?" He asked as he waited for the young man.

Cain grit his teeth together in frustration but finally pulled himself to his feet. He straightened his shirt and jacket as best he could, then walked to the door after the other man. "I'm Cain. Are you going to tell me your name too?" he asked. After all, he was going to need to know if he was going to work for him.

"My name is King Kirin." He said as he lead them out of the dungeon. "What would you like to eat. I'll have something brought to the rooms." He said as they continued to walk. He was glad that Cain had decided to serve him. He wouldn't ask to much of the young man. But he knew that this would be seen as a proper punishment for the crime. Though there would be those who would think he was going to easy on him.

Cain followed a few feet behind, still being hesitant to be near the other man. So he was a king. Cain had been right in thinking this man was someone with power. It was in his dress and the way he held himself. He still thought he was being treated too well considering he had been in a cell seconds earlier, but he decided to answer cooperatively for now. "Any food is fine. I don't really care. Surely you have something you want from me, besides to keep me well fed."

Kirin stopped by the kitchens and asked for some food to be brought up to his rooms. He also had one of the guards send for the royal tailor. He would not have any of his servants dressing poorly. "You are to be my personal servant. I keep my help fed." He said as they got to his rooms. The guards outside the door open them for the two. Kirin stepped into his rooms. "Would you like a bath?" He asked as he moved to take his cloak off.

Cain stepped into the room and looked around. He wasn't someone who was raised poor, but he had never seen a room so grand before. He turned to look at the king and narrowed his eyes in suspicion. He wondered if maybe this guy was some kind of freak. Was that why he was being kind? No one gave something for nothing in his experience. Hey may have been young, but he'd seen a lot in that amount of time. "Just food is fine. I don't want a bath," he muttered, looking back at the floor. "You're being too kind."

"I've been told I am to kind on more then one occasion." Kirin said with a small chuckle. "But I feel that being horrible to those who serve you only leads to resentment and uprising." Just then there was a knock on the door. "Enter."

The tailor walked in. "You sent for me your majesty?" He bowed.

"Yes. This is Cain and he is to be my new servant. He will need respectable clothing."

"Of course your majesty." He moved over to Cain to measure him.

Kirin's words sounded wise and Cain found himself trusting the other man for once. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad? He would miss his life of travel, but living somewhere rich and cushy couldn't be too bad. It would just take some getting used to. The feeling of trust didn't last long though. the second the tailor moved toward him, Cain took a couple steps back. "Hey now. Who said I wanted new clothes? Isn't what I have now fine?" he exclaimed. A quick glance down at himself only made him sigh. His clothes may have been nice at one point, but he had been traveling in them and the material was worn. Still they were his clothes and he considered the ownership something special. "I don't want some random person measuring me."

"Would you let me do it?" Kirin asked looking Cain in the eyes. He knew he could have forced the issue but he wouldn't. It was his own fault for not thinking things through. He was used to being around strangers and having them do things for him, even when it did drive him crazy. He had never thought that Cain would be uncomfortable with it.

Cain hesitated, but after a second he nodded. "Whatever...I guess it's fine if it's you." He looked into Kirin's eyes for a few seconds. He still wasn't thrilled about this, but he supposed that he could could be reasonable for now.

By the time Kirin had all the measurements for the clothes the food that he had asked to be sent up arrived There was sandwiches and fresh fruit. There was a decanter of wine and one of water as well. "Well it seems that I have perfect time." He said after telling the tailor what he was looking for. "Eat." He said kindly to Cain indicating the food.

Cain stood still while Kirin took the measurements. He didn't feel the need to say anything until the food had been brought in. He couldn't resist his hunger any longer when the smell hit his nose. The fruit was ripe and juicy, its scent strong enough that Cain sat down in front of the food and picked up a piece without hesitation. It had been easy to be stubborn when he was in the cell, but not so much anymore. "This tastes really good," he said as he licked some juice from his lips.

"I am glad it is to your liking." Kirin said with a smile. He had to keep reminding himself that Cain wasn't Michael. Long ago, before Kirin had become king, Michael had come to this kingdom with his father. His father had been a merchant. They had come in the late fall and had decided to stay the winter. Michael's father had fallen ill and had died. Kirin's father had taken Michael in and he and the young prince had become close. They had even, once they had spent a long while together, lovers. Michael, as he was human, had grown older faster then Kirin. Soon he had grown old and died. It had devastated Kirin to lose Michael. If he hadn't already been made king he would have let himself waist away. But he had known he had a duty to his kingdom. It was still hard and he missed Michael everyday. But he got through it, for the good of his kingdom.
