"I was just so worried when it got dark and you hadn't turn. I started thinking the worse had happened. But your safe, and that's all that matters." He leaned in placing a kiss on Cain's forehead. "You're safe. You're safe." He mumbled over and over again.

Cain realized that Kirin was far more worried than he was. "I won't be hurt easily," he said with a faint smile meant to be comforting. Now he believed without a doubt that he was special to Kirin. The concerned sound of his voice and the protective arms couldn't lie like words could and Cain was filled with a sense of warmth. "Don't worry, Kirin. Let's go back now...okay?"

"Yes let's." He said forcing himself to let the young man go. One of the guards had picked up Cain's knife and silently handed it to him. Soon the group headed back to the castle. Kirin held Cain's hand as they walked.

Cain accepted the knife with a slight blush before he placed it back in his boot. No one called him out of his fear though. Cain held Kirin's hand tightly as they walked and he stole many a glance at the other man. He wondered, could they maybe make a relationship work after all?

Kirin's mother came out of the castle as they approached. She goes and hugs both her son and Cain. "I am glad you are safe." She says to Cain. And she really was, as she knew how much her son cared for this young man.

"Thank you," Cain muttered, embarrassed. "I don't think I was really in danger." Though he really could have. Perhaps it was because he felt deep down that Kirin would come looking for him that he felt as if he was not in danger. "I'm just glad to be back."

"We are glad you are safe." She said with a smile.

"I think both Cain and I could use some sleep." He said with a smile. He knew he was emotionally drained at the moment.

Cain only nodded. Sleep sounded better than anything right now. They headed back to the rooms in silence. Cain paused before he he headed to his own room. "Good night," he said with a faint smile.

"Good night." He said kissing Cain's cheek softly. He really didn't want Cain out of his sight but he wouldn't push him in anyway. He turned and headed to his own rooms, though a part of him knew he wouldn't sleep well. But it was what it was.

Cain sat down on his bed, staring at a wall as he lightly touched his cheek. He was exhausted, but he didn't want to sleep. These sorts of contradictions were strange for him and he didn't know what to do. He sat a long time doing nothing, perhaps for hours. Finally, he crept out of the room and towards Kirin's and slipped inside silently. He sat down on the floor, just watching. He wanted to be near the other man for some reason.

Kirin knew Cain was there and he smiled. He would speak but he didn't want to scare him. He just enjoyed being in the same room with Cain.

After a minute, Cain moved closer. At first he just wandered toward Kirin at a pace that was hardly moving, but he closed the last few feet in one move. Looking down at the sleeping man, Cain found himself wondering and staring. He didn't think the other was awake or he would have said something by now, so Cain felt safe to say the words he'd been thinking all night. Carefully, he leaned down and placed a hesitant kiss on the other man's lips. "I like you very much, but I don't know what to do with these feelings..." he whispered as he pulled away.

Kirin did his best to keep his breathing even when Cain kissed him. And when he heard the words he spoke his heart soared. Cain did like him. This meant more to him then he would have thought. He could work with this.

Cain stayed in the room for a minute more before he went back to his own. Sleep came easy after that, the sort of sleep that was filled with warm and strange dreams as if from another life. A familiar but unknown life. Cain forgot the dreams when he woke though, only remembering the feeling which matched the sunlight warming his bed.

Kirin to feel asleep after that. It was as if a weight had been lifted of his heart and soul. He woke in the morning feeling refreshed. He got dressed and headed out of his room.

Cain was already sitting on the balcony when Kirin woke. Looking over his shoulder, he smiled at the other man. "Good morning. Isn't it a nice day?" he asked and he turned back to look at the pink and blue bands in the sky that were only now dissipating after the sun rise.

Kirin joined him on the balcony. "Yes it is. Did you sleep well?" He kissed the top of Cain's head. Before going to lean against the railing.

Cain was sitting with his feet hanging over the edge and he stared down at the ground, a little pink, as he swung his legs. He was getting used to Kirin's affection though and reacted in no other way. "I slept very well and I have the feeling I had the most wondrous dream, though I don't remember it." He sighed blissfully as he tried to catch onto the dream fragments. "How about you?"

"Very well indeed." He said. "I was thinking, if you were up to it, we would go out for breakfast." He watched Cain from the corner of his eye. "I know this great little place in town with great food."

"Really? That sounds really nice," Cain said. "How free are you today?" He pulled himself and stood with a stretch. He was looking forward to eating. After the stress of yesterday, he had gotten himself very hungry in his sleep.

"Not as free as yesterday." He said with a small smile. "Though any free time I have I'd like to spend with you if that's alright." He said offering Cain his hand.

Taking Kirin's hand, Cain nodded. "I don't mind. I like spending time with you as well," he managed to say with a little hesitation. "But I don't want you to get in trouble for ignoring other things you could be doing."

"I did say when I had free time." He said with a smile as they headed out of the castle.

Cain followed, chuckling slight at that. "It just seems you spend a great deal of time with me. So you really...enjoy being with me that much?" he asked, stumbling a little over his words. Even though Kirin said so all the time, he wanted to hear it again, now that he was feeling more receptive to the idea.

"I would spend every waking moment with you if I could." He said with a smile. "Though today isn't going to be all that pleasant." He said with a sigh. "You remember that marriage proposal I told you about? The on I turned down?"
