So! To celebrate the new forum, I decided to start a shiny brand new thread! About pets. Because pets are adorable and cute and glompable. Yes.


What is everyone's favorite animal they'd want to claim as a pet? Be it a cat or dog or lizard or bird or something exotic? How many pets would would you want, ideally? Or do you already have all your dream pets?

For me my dream pet would be a snake. I've always wanted a snake, since I was a wee little kindergartner. I just love the feel of their scales and their strong coils! I want a snake that's not too large or small, because too small I'd be afraid I'd accidentally hurt it, and too large I'd be worried that it'd eat me.

Right now, considering where I live and all, I want a ball python, because I like their colors and patterns and they're not too large.

My dream pet would definitely be a Fennec Fox. They are the cutest things ever. Unfortunately it will never be, as they are illegal in Washington :(



If I ever got a snake I'd want one of those tiny ones. They're so cute.

Ideally I'd like to get a Siamese cat but we already have two dogs and my mum absolutely despises them. (Although my sister was able to keep one that was passed to her through a window, the 80's were crazy times.)

But if I were to choose an exotic pet I'd go for either (or both);
A Capybara (Monkeys not included)

or an Otter.

I didn't know that you could have Fennec foxes as pets. I thought they're an endangered species?

I have a friend who used to post a load of otter pictures on her Facebook page because she thought them the most adorable things in the world. I wonder if they and capybaras are legal to keep as pets? And red pandas?

Not so much endangered as extremely exotic... and fennec are permitted in a few states.

That's really cool! I wonder if there are any regulations about them here...I'd love to have a panda for a pet, but of course that's not happening unless I'm the dictator of the world or something. Which is not happening either.

Of course not... the antagonist never seems to win...

Yeah. And a villain on vacation is definitely not winning anything except inner peace. Or something.

Aw. A lot of the most adorable things are all endangered. That sucks.

Real Pet? I would like to own either Lassie or Ragdoll ;)

Antagonist~ I have to agree with her, otters are pretty darn cute. Have you heard the noises that they make?!
Hmm well, I know they would both be illegal to keep in Australia since almost everything that isn't native is shunned upon, haha. I have however seen photos of people in.. America I think? Having Capybaras in their households with harnesses on (so cute), but whether they were actually owned and living there and not just visiting or being taken care of for some reason, I don't know. I think you need a licence.

Ant... get a sugar glider if you want something adorable :)

One of my dream pets would be an iguana. A big colourful one like this one:

I haven't heard of the sounds an otter makes before, or I'd forgotten because it's been so long since I last watched an Animal Planet show that isn't 'The Monster Inside of Me' ;;

I think capybaras and otters will take a lot of work to keep though, what with their need of being around water, etc...

Sugar Gliders aren't my type of thing, unfortunately, though I know a lot of people think them adorable.

I'd love to have a lizard or an alligator/crocodile for a pet too, if I weren't worried that it'd eat me after it grows up...

I would like a bio engineered mini raptor. . . that had wings and glows in the dark and made purring sounds like a kitty cat!

For a pet that doesn't quite exist in this world (yet), I'd love to have a dragon or a Ninetails, Arcanine, Suicune, Tyrannitar, and a ton of other Pokemon as my pets.

No not everyone...just people I don't like. But since it would be a mini raptor I'd prolly have to do the killing myself. So that's not attractive.

A lot of Pokemon would make great pets :P
