I rarely buy turkey, as these days chicken is cheaper. I did buy diced turkey thigh when it was on offer. I did some mushroom and tarragon thing with that. Got zero idea what went into it, as I just put stuff in. -.- Turned out tasty too, typically!
Tell me what you tried then, don't be a tease!
Have fun trying the tortilla pizza! I have some too, hmm...haven't got anything sauce like open though, and I'm not opening a jar of pesto just for that.

Tonight we're having a bear roast. It was given to us, so... might as well see how it goes!

My dad usually traps one a year, and he'll give us some. This roast was much better than the last one. I'm not sure I could describe the taste. It's similar to beef, but it has a game-y flavor to it. We can trick Terra into eating it and she thinks it's steak. That kid would eat a cow raw, I swear.
I like it when my dad will take bear, cube it, and then can it into mason jars. I'll usually saute some onions, garlic, and then make a gravy before adding in the meat. That over rice is really nice.

You could do it with chicken, too. I took a turkey breast with the skin attached, broke the bones out, spread the meat on a cookie sheet with a little olive oil underneath, and under and over the skin covered it with a mixture of olive oil (may want to go with butter unless you eat it all in one go. OO doesn't reheat that well), salt (next time I'll try sea salt), pepper, dried parsley (will try fresh chopped), dried minced onion, and a tiny bit of sage. That that sit together for, like, ten minutes and rub the bird up. You definitely don't have to use all of it. With the size of the turkey I cooked it for an hour and a half and basted it with the extra stuff every 20 minutes. The first hour I cooked it under tinfoil, which was kind of a hassle, but when done I let it sit for an hour to reabsorb and the skin was crispy and fatty, the meat was deliciously moist, and the gravy that went with it was delicious.
If you think you'll have leftovers, definitely use butter. Olive oil turns it into a leather/rock mixture in the reheating process. One of my roommates who hates turkey loved it.
I always heard bear was a greasy game meat.

Nope. Well, not the bear I've had anyway. :) It could be the bear itself. Some trappers will really fatten a bear up before getting it. Others don't.
Though actually, in the meat Dad gave us there's a bit of ground bear. If it's greasy, that will definitely be what's greasy. I'll report back on it later. XDDD

I remember eating elk (ground) once, and I couldn't do it. That was very greasy. I didn't care for moose, either. I'll try anything once. ^^;

I want to try seal for some reason. I was watching a Native American report on CBS and it showed a family who had moved to a more isolated island without a lot of resources, and they as natives were allowed to hunt seal. They cured the meat and used as much as possible by storing the rest in barrels. It was creepy because it looked black after sitting in the barrels for a long time, but was still good. The weirdest but most intriguing thing was the intestine. it was thin as your pinky and they'd either braid it and toss it in the curing barrel, or hang it as strings on a rack and eat it as a dried snack. Like... raw jerky.

Interesting. o.o I used to watch "Bizarre Foods" and "No Reservations" a bit and found all the different foods intriguing. I don't know if I'll ever travel that much, but I'd love the cultural experience.
I'm trying to think of the most adventurous thing I've eaten, and I'm failing. Beef tongue and heart isn't all that unique, nor is sushi. :P I'm pretty plain!

I'm always trying to get myself to cook more, too. Unfortunately I really don't usually have the time. However, finals are over in several days, so I hope to get a bunch of cooking done over the winter break! :D I'll be stuck in this house all alone, so it gives me the perfect opportunity to sing loudly while cooking and then eat my sorrows T^T
I have some fresh persimmons that are going bad quickly that I really want to make into some persimmon bread. I've never tried it, but I love bread.

Ahah! Found them:
Periwinkles | Edible Cape Cod
See the little black spots?
I remember being really young and playing with oversized periwinkles at the beach. I'd wade out and find them on rocks. They'll sometimes poke out of their shells and check you all over. xD

Howdy has a tree in his garden
They're just too expensive for me to be able to justify buying them. :(

I know I made a post asking what a persimmon is... Must not have hit "post." *one wikipedia later* so... Its look is like a mix between butternut squash and a tomato... Odd.
