"Copy that," Clint said, taking up a guard position. He could make sure nobody tried to get in or out until backup arrived.

Things were quiet for a little while, until Alexis heard movement up above her.

"Clint, we've got someone on the move."

"On it," Clint said, somehow making his way up and into the ceiling vent. It was the quickest way to see what was going on upstairs.

"Top floor," Alexis said, running up after the person. They were heading up towards the roof to escape. And that would be bad.

"Copy that." Clint scurried up through the ventilation system, making his way to the roof. He popped out of the roof vent just as the stairwell door opened, and he immediately had his handgun out and ready.

One of the experiments jumped to the side, his skin not quite glowing blue. Her eyes narrowed at Clint and she threw raw blue energy at him.

Clint jumped and rolled to one side, coming back up with his gun aimed at the experiment. He fired at her, although he made sure not to take a killshot just yet. He did, however, make sure the bullets landed squarely in places such as kneecaps and shoulders.

The experiment went down briefly. And then came right back up, red boiling under her skin as the bullets popped back out and she healed.

"That would be extremis," Alexis said, making her way up onto the roof and also aiming at the experiment. "Which is bad."

Clint swore colorfully and fired again. They at least needed to stay alive long enough for backup to arrive. This time, though, he didn't bother with nonlethal shots. Now he was going for kill shots.

None of the lethal shots kept the experiment down, and Alexis helped him. She figured if they drained the experiment enough and kept shooting her, she'd stay down. Eventually.

"She's going to head your way," Alexis warned as the experiment glanced around and then looked at the roof beyond Clint.

"I see her," Clint acknowledged. He already knew he was a bit close to the edge of the roof, and he didn't like that. He didn't have his bow or specialty arrows with him, so he couldn't risk taking that kind of fall.

So when the girl tackled him to get over the edge, Alexis was right behind her. She grabbed Clint's wrist and somehow managed to plant herself so that she didn't fall over the edge of the roof with them. But she did pull her shoulder out from their combined weight.

Clint grabbed onto the edge of the roof with his fingertips, although he did have to let go of his gun to do so. He pulled himself up until he was able to hold his own weight, and let go of Alexis's hand.

"You alright?" he asked, heaving himself back onto the rooftop. He glanced over the edge to see if the experiment woman had gone splat.

"I will be once we can get my shoulder popped back in," Alexis said, looking down at the woman. She hadn't survived the fall. "Well, I guess if you drop them from high enough, even Extremis can't heal it."

"No kidding," Clint muttered. He moved away from the edge and looked at Alexis. "Come here, I can pop that back in for you."

"Hold on a sec." Alexis watched a few cars approaching, making sure they were SHIELD before she relaxed. "We need to go talk to our backup."

"We need to fix your shoulder first," Clint replied. "Before it swells up any worse. It'll hurt like a bitch, but it'll hurt worse once it's swollen."

"I know. Not the first time I've done this." Alexis turned to make it easier for him, keeping an eye on the cars.

Clint just nodded and quickly popped her shoulder back into place.

"There," he said. "Be careful with it."

Alexis groaned quietly and grimaced. "Yeah. Got that. At least it's my left arm." She headed for the doorway again. "You want to stay up here or come say hi to our backup?"

"I'll keep an eye out from up here," Clint said. "Until the place is cleared." That way, he'd be able to spot any threats that might appear.

Alexis snorted at him but headed back down to ground level to tell the others what was going on. Someone even managed to bully her into staying outside.

Clint secretly approved of that. He didn't want Alexis going back inside with her shoulder all messed up. Besides, she shouldn't need to go back in now that backup had arrived, so he definitely approved of her staying in the safer spot.

It took a while, but the rest of the experiments were gathered up, the scientists were gathered up, the sample was taken to be examined, and Alexis and Clint were cleared to head back.

"Well, that didn't end as terribly as it could have."

"That ended so much better than it should have," Clint said. He grinned. "I almost feel cheated, ops like this are supposed to go way further south than this one did."
