"Okay, let's get this loose and get the hell out of here," Alexis said, kneeling down next to her and ripping the restraints loose because she had better leverage. "No questions right now, if we start asking questions I will lose it, let's get outside first."

"Outside sounds good," Autumn agreed. She winced when the remaining rivets popped, the high-pitched sounds lancing her ears. She got to her feet and swayed a bit. No way should she have moved that quickly. "Yeah, outside," she repeated, a bit faint.

Alexis nodded, tamping down her own emotions, and she led the way back out into the hallway. She didn't see an exit in sight, but she figured they'd come across one eventually.

Autumn followed until they passed an adjacent hall. A tiny draft flowed across the entryway, and she skidded to a stop.

"This way," she said, already heading down the hall. "I think there's a way out this way. There's air moving."

"We'll try this way, then," Alexis said, letting her take the lead momentarily. She grinned a bit when she spotted a door, and then her smile faded when about a dozen people moved in front of the door.

Autumn stopped when their way was blocked.

"Can we take a dozen?" she murmured to Alexis. "I don't know about you, but I'm unarmed."

"Here." Alexis handed over a pistol, one of two she'd picked up. "Let's see how many we can take out." She shifted her position to a better covered spot, her gaze on the group in front of them.

"Thanks," Autumn said, taking and checking the weapon quickly. She moved into a more defensible spot and aimed the pistol at the group.

One of the HYDRA minions opened fire, and Autumn returned the favor. She blinked when she felt next to no recoil from the gun. That was strange.

Alexis had absolutely no problems firing back with extreme prejudice, focusing just on the task at hand and nothing else. SHIELD training came in handy for some things, after all, including ignoring the source of a panic attack. At least until she was safe.

Autumn focused on getting out, as well. That was the most important thing at the momet, and it kept her from freaking out. Once all the enemies were down, she lowered the weapon and made her way outside.

Alexis followed her out, looking around and not relaxing yet. There was a parking lot, and she wasted no time in hotwiring a car for their use.

"The sooner we get away from here, the better," she muttered.

Autumn flinched when the car roared to life.

"Yeah, let's get out of here," she said as she gingery slid into the passenger seat.

Alexis settled in the driver's seat and floored it, taking off away from the base and heading back to civilization. Fortunately the car had some loose change in it and enough gas to get to the next big city.

"Well, I don't have my cell or anything, so I guess we need to find a payphone."

"No need, most gas stations have a phone they'll let people use," Autumn said, huddled down in her seat a bit. She reached out and turned down the radio. It seemed impossibly loud, considering the volume dial claimed to only be set on eight.

"Right." Alexis took a deep breath, though she didn't get out of the car yet. "We'll figure this out. We'll manage. Right? We'll be fine." But she'd noticed that things were too sharp, too loud. She wasn't suffering as much as Autumn, but she'd still noticed it. And by now, she knew, the adrenaline was long gone, and she should have been feeling drained, but she was still ready to go another eight hours. She swallowed, trying not to think about what it all meant. "Okay. Phone. I'm going to go call Stark, he'll be able to come get us."

Autumn nodded.

"Once you do that, I'll contact Charles," she said. Even if Tony was going to pick them up, she still needed to call Charles and make sure he knew she was alright. Or, rather, as alright as it was possible for her to be, given what she was starting to suspect happened. She was feeling similar things to Alexis, although she didn't nearly wrench the car door from its hinges when she opened it.

Alexis winced at that and made her way inside, being insanely careful when she got the phone and dialed Tony's number. Jarvis answered.

"Hey, Jarvis, it's Alexis. Any of the team around?"

Almost immediately, she was put on speaker, and what sounded like everyone at once started talking or asking questions or demanding answers. Alexis really couldn't help that she laughed a bit at that.

Autumn blinked at the noise. She could hear it even from a couple feet away.

"Jesus, they're loud," she commented.

Alexis nodded, waiting for the noise to die down a bit.

"Where the hell are you?" Tony demanded.

"A gas station somewhere in Illinois. I need a pick up. Autumn is here too."

"Illinois? What the hell is in Illinois?"

Alexis smiled, though it wasn't happy. "I'll tell you later. Pick up first, food, shower, then debrief."

"Fine, fine, give me two hours." Tony walked away, although he left the line open in case anyone else wanted to try Spanish Inquisitioning the agent.

"How the hell did you get out to Illinois?" Clint asked as soon as Tony walked away. "Jesus, Lex."

Alexis was quiet for a few moments. "It's... complicated, ish," she said, glancing at Autumn again. "I'll tell you everything, promise, once I'm back there. It's... For now, I can't."

"Can't, or won't?" Clint asked. "Never mind, I'll bug you when you get back, anyways, Coulson filled us in on something big, as soon as you get here we'll tell you what's going on."

Alexis choked down a hysterical sound. "Yeah. Sounds good. I'll see you all in a few hours." She hung up and spent a few moments just breathing before she could move out of the way so Autumn could call Professor X.

Autumn hesitated a moment before picking up the phone and dialing. She knew Charles's cell number, and knew he would have that phone on hand.

"This is Charles." He sounded as calm as ever, in the face of the rising panic. Autumn had been gone a long time, now, and everyone was starting to get a bit edgy. Especially Pietro.
