Pietro gave her a few moments before he steered her over to the car Logan was still waiting in, letting her settle in first before he settled in next to her.

"Good to see ya," Logan grunted, looking at her.

Alexis watched them go and let out a little breath. At least Autumn would be okay. And then Tony ushered her inside and up the elevator to the living area, where everyone else was waiting.

"Hey, Logan," Autumn said quietly as she got into the car. She settled gingerly into her seat.

"There you are," Clint said, getting up from where he was perched on the arm of the couch. He went over to her and hugged her. "Don't do that again. I was worried."

"Straight back to the house?" Logan asked. He figured that would be what it was, but he figured he might as well ask.

Alexis blinked but relaxed into the hug. "Well, wasn't exactly my choice," she muttered, leaning against him a little bit.

"Please," Autumn said, leaning her head back and closing her eyes. She paused a bit when she smelled something. She wasn't quite sure what it was, but it brought Raven to mind. "Was Raven the last one in this car?"

"Still," Clint said, just letting her lean on him. He brought her over to the couch to sit.

"Yeah," Logan grunted. "Did the grocery shopping." He glanced back at her but didn't ask.

Pietro raised an eyebrow at her, though.

Alexis let go of him to sit on the couch, taking a few moments to try and unwind. When that didn't work as well as she'd hoped, she stood again and went into the kitchen to get a drink, essentially buying herself time now.

"Okay." The fact that Autumn knew that frightened her a bit, and she huddled down in her seat a bit with her eyes closed. She just wanted to get back to the mansion and hole up for a while.

Clint wanted to follow her, but let her go. He knew the look on her face. It was a look that said she was desperate for some time to get her head on straight, or else she might drown.

Pietro settled in close to her, watching the scenery pass and change as they approached the mansion. He got out first when Logan parked, but he made no move to leave her yet.

Alexis bought herself a few minutes before she figured that yes she probably should report. So she took a deep breath and looked at the rest of the team.

"So. HYDRA found us, Autumn and I. We were grabbed on mission." She paused there, thinking about how to phrase the next bit.

Autumn took a few moments to venture out of the car. She shaded her eyes against the sun as she finally slid out of her seat, and she stood awkwardly for a moment as she tried to adjust.

Steve nodded for her to continue. Nobody spoke, just letting her take her time.

"The professor is keeping everyone back for now," Pietro said, looking at her. "To give you time to escape to your room, if you want."

Alexis took a deep breath and started pacing. "I was given a series of injections. I believe that HYDRA was... I think it was a version of the super soldier serum. It gave me the strength to tear through the restraints and get Autumn out, and we escaped and hotwired a car out." She finally held still again, waiting for that bombshell to drop and the explosion to happen.

"Remind me to thank him," Autumn said quietly, cautiously heading towards her room. She desperately wanted to curl up and break for a while.

There was silence for a moment after Alexis finished speaking.

"How do you feel right now?" Steve finally asked. It seemed like he was the unofficial expert, in this situation.

Pietro followed her up the stairs. "Want me to get you anything? Food? Water? I'll get you some water, you should drink something."

"All wound up," Alexis said, going back to pacing. "Like I'm expecting more people to barge in here, but I'm not." She made a frustrated noise, curling her hands into fists and breaking the glass she'd been holding. She looked surprised for a second, and then even more frustrated.

"Water would be nice," Autumn said. There was a slight edge of strain to her voice. Pietro was hovering, and she was starting to feel a bit claustrophobic.

"You'll get used to that," Steve said, checking her hand for glass. "You're safe here. Go try to relax." He knew from experience that she wasn't going to get much actual sleep, not for a day or two at least, but relaxing was the next best thing.

Pietro nodded and went downstairs to get her water. And a snack, because he felt like she needed it. And a soda, in case she wanted something sugary.

He ended up taking a tray back up to her room.

"Relax. Right." Alexis scoffed at that but didn't waste any time leaving. Just because the rest of the team hadn't said anything yet didn't mean it wasn't coming, and she'd rather not deal with the explosion of questions and prodding.

Autumn had changed and curled up on her bed at that point. She was wearing the lightest tank and shorts she owned, and she'd closed the curtains on the windows as tight as she could.

Everyone turned to look at Steve almost at the exact same moment, and he shook his head.

"Give her a bit of time," he said. "It's... jarring, at first."

Pietro crept into the room and put the tray on the bedside table before he went to go sit in the hallway and wait. Normally, waiting wasn't his thing, but for her, he could be patient.

Alexis spent a while going through motions of fighting, and then beat up a few punching bags. By the time she finally stopped, panting, heart pounding, it was after midnight.

Even though she knew he was trying to be quiet, Autumn could still hear Pietro come in, and she curled up tighter. She wasn't sure what was happening to her, but it was scaring her.

Steve had been keeping tabs on Alexis via Jarvis, so he knew when she was starting to wind down a bit. He headed down to the gym to check on her.

"Any better?" he asked once she'd gone through the latest punching bag.

Pietro stayed out in the hallway after he dropped off the tray. He knew she needed some time, and clearly she didn't want to talk just yet. So he'd give her time.

"Not really," Alexis said, looking at him. "I don't know how you did it. I still feel like I could go for a while."

"It's something you get used to," Steve said as he examined her hands and the punching bag. "Sleep becomes a habit, instead of something you feel you need. You kind of have to make yourself rest occasionally."

"I don't think I can," Alexis said, shaking her head but letting him do what he wanted. "If I'm not moving, I can't stop my brain from working, and if I let that go I'll end up curled up in a corner having a panic attack."

"It'll take a while to wear yourself down," Steve warned. "I went a whole week without sleeping, when I came out of the ice, and that was a long time after I first got the serum."

"How long did it take after you got the serum?" Alexis asked, already dreading the answer. She was not going to like this.

"A while," Steve admitted. "A lot of it kind of blurred together a bit. There were a few strings of shows on the USO tour that I remember not sleeping at all. Sleep came easier once I was boots on the ground, though. I was able to get closer to wearing myself out with the constant fighting."

Alexis made a choked, not quite hysterical sound at that, because she wasn't used to going like this and she wasn't sure she could handle that. At least he'd volunteered; she was still trying to get past some of the things HYDRA had made her able to do.

"Easy," Steve murmured, touching her shoulder. "Just breathe. You'll get through this. We'll get you another punching bag and a good pair of running shoes and you can work off what you can. I'm sure Phil will give you all the time you need to adjust."

"I know he will," Alexis said, shaking her head a bit. "He'll understand. It's everyone else that concerns me right now." Including herself, but she didn't add that. She was actually trying not to worry people, after all.
