Alexis blinked at that but was quick to worm a little closer. Sure, they touched, but not usually like this. Even if he didn't mean it quite the way she wished, she was going to soak up the attention while she could.

Clint just held her for a little while, quiet.

"I was worried about you," he finally murmured.

"I'm okay," Alexis said quietly. "A little freaked out by this whole thing, but okay." She quirked a bit of a smile. "Probably make me feel better if I get to kill a few more Hydra goons."

"I hear that," Clint murmured. "Wouldn't mind picking a bunch of them off myself."

"I'm sure we'll get a chance," Alexis said. "Stark is always looking for bases, just in case. I'll just tag along next time."

"You sure?" Clint asked, looking at her. His arm tightened around her. "I don't want you to risk being triggered again, until we know what causes it."

Alexis made a face briefly. "If it happens again, I couldn't be in safer company," she pointed out. "And if it doesn't, I get shooting people therapy."

Clint considered that for a moment.

"You're not going without me," he said. "I'm not going to let you."

"Yeah, I figured," Alexis agreed. "Kind of surprised you haven't tried to come sooner." She shifted a bit closer to him, carefully curling one hand over his ribs.

"I wanted to," Clint admitted. "Never found a good excuse to." He shifted a bit so they fit better together, putting her closer.

"Really?" Alexis looked at him, surprised again. He was doing that to her a lot today. "Didn't think you'd be all that interested in Steve's bootcamp-training."

"Not interested in getting my skin handed to me," Clint said, grinning. "But hey, I might learn something from watching, you never know." Not that he'd be watching for technique at all, but he didn't need to admit that just yet.

Alexis chuckled at that. "You might, although you do train with Natasha," she pointed out. "Pretty sure she'd still kill me if I tried to train with her."

"Nah, she likes you, she'd let you live," Clint said teasingly, grinning. "But if it makes you feel better, even Steve has to put effort into sparring with Nat."

"I know, I've seen the two of them at it," Alexis said with a little grin. "It's kind of fun to watch."

"It really is," Clint agreed, grinning back. "You should have seen it whenever they sparred back at SHIELD. There was a betting pool on who would eat the floor first, and how quickly."

Alexis snorted. "And the first few times it was Steve, until he adjusted." She shook her head. "It's kind of funny how careful he is of everything."

"No kidding," Clint agreed. "But he's getting better, I think."

"Far as I can tell he is." Alexis shook her head a bit. "Although I understand much better now why he's careful."

"Yeah, I bet," Clint said. He pulled her closer. "It'll be alright. You've done great so far."

"I haven't managed to hurt anyone yet," Alexis agreed. "Fortunately." She moved her hand to his arm instead, frowning a little.

Clint noticed her expression.

"What's wrong?" he asked. Her mood had certainly dropped quickly.

"Just reminded myself that you're breakable," Alexis said with a little shrug. "And just because I've been good so far doesn't mean I always will be."

"Hey, hey, don't worry about me," Clint said. "Really, I'll be fine, I've survived a lot worse than a few bruises and dings, alright?"

Alexis smiled wryly. "I could give you a lot worse than a few bruises," she said, shaking her head. "You are far too casual around me."
