Do whatever you want to do - just as long as you know that you're doing it for yourself and not just because you want to rebel against them.

Just got off the phone with the place where I want to get it done. Its going to have to wait until payday. The piercing itself costs $50, and the jewelry is anywhere from $15 up.

Exactly. And if I really want to I could probably still get it done before my parents come into town. Mom and Grandma fly in on the 27th and my next paycheck is the 20th.
At this rate it may only be you and me around when we reach the page prize. That leaves you currently with a 100% chance of being the winner.

Why do you want to get it done before they come into town?
But that's good that you'd be able to probably get it done before they get there. :D
 Awesome!

I am excited about it, but I guess it doesn't have to be done before they get in town. Ever since I finally decided that I want to get them pierced I have been getting earrings and I can't wait to wear them, plus it would be fun to wear some at the wedding.

But you wouldn't be able to wear them for the wedding anyways because of the fact that you have to keep the studs that they put in when you get them pierced in for a certain amount of time - I can't remember how long but it's quite awhile - before you can change them out. To give your ears a time to heal after being pierced so they don't close up.

True, I was meaning it would be fun to be able to wear earrings, studs too, for the wedding. And on the flip side my Grandma, having been a conservative pastor's wife, might have a fit. But then again, she who NEVER wore jewelry before had the last precious stone chip that my grandpa got her made into a ring and wears it all the time.

Ah, got ya! Just pick studs that'd go for the wedding as you'd not be able to change them out probably until after the wedding.
With your grandmother, if she doesn't like it - it's a good thing that it's your ears being pierced, not hers.

Yeah. I guess I just kind of want to do it before so that if they have any issues with it, I can deal with it IN person. I guess I just want be able to let them know, THIS IS THE NEW ME!

True, but either way it's your choice - your life, and if they don't like it, too bad!
You are an adult, and you shouldn't feel the need to sneak around in order to do something as simple as pierce your ears.
I've had to learn this the hard way with my parents - my parents have basically disowned me. :(

I don't want to sneak in fact I kind of want to get it done before just to show them, its my body and this is the new me.
I am sorry your parents have disowned you. Can't even begin to imagine how rough that must be and how much that must hurt.

Yeah, true... but really it shouldn't matter. It's not like you're asking them to do something like that to themselves.
I hate it, but it's their choice. :/ :( *sighs*

True, very true. I don't need to prove myself to them or rebel. I am me!
Hey thanks for sticking around. It seems like I can get people in here chatting away for awhile but then they disappear and the thread goes quiet cause its just me.

No need to sneak around and have to see the need to do it before you see them - I mean feel free to do it before they show up, but you shouldn't see the need to rush to do it just because they wouldn't like it. Best of luck - you're an adult and you're allowed to do whatever you want to do. :] You just do what you want because it's something that you want to do, not because you're rebelling or whatnot. Just be yourself and if your family can't accept that - too bad because things need to be done because they make you happy - not them.
You're welcome. It's nice not being overwhelmed by too many people posting at once. :]

Thanks Moon. I appreciate it.
Feel free to stay around its usually fairly quiet. I did an event thread and that had a fair amount of people hanging out. I tried to bring them here after and they hung for a bit and then started to disappear like before. But hey if its just you and me, hey that is fine with me.

You're welcome. That's what I'm having to come to terms with - my parents may not be happy with the decisions that I made to make myself happy, but it's what I had to do for me. :) I just wish that they'd understand that.
Alright! I've subscribed! I do disappear from Mene from time to time, more because I just forget to sign back in, or my life got too chaotic but I do come back eventually. :)

My family and the insanity that comes with that usually is what pulls me off and a few people make me go "OH YEAH! I should sign back on." Haha, such is life!

Well I am happy to have you here when you are here. But I understand how crazy life can be. As it gets closer to the wedding and once my family is in town, I might not be on as much.
And just to let you know, I will be heading out soon to meet my soon-to-be-sister.

I'll definitely come by whenever I've got the time to get on. :)
And that's totally understandable. Danny and I may have eloped but we did throw a party for friends and family and that was exhausting!
Alright! I hope that you have a good time! :)

It was fun. Only need a few minor alterations to the dress. They have to shorten it some and then tighten up the shoulder strap and around the bust area. Things always fit weird over/around my big boobs; its frustrating and annoying.

Alterations are a pain!
But Ava has an aunt who's a seamstress who does her alterations for free, but it's still a pain!
