Yukina thought a moment ."nope, that pritty much sums it up"

Hiro looked at her."Yukina....you are strange beyond words.

"Oh...kay. Well, at least she's honest enough to admit to it." Yoake said. She sat back in her seat, a beignet in one hand and her coffee in the other. "So, since you want me to be L for you guys, what's the return?"

Yukina smiled."name it",she said calmly.

Hiro looked to Yukina then to Yoake with a grin."the satisfaction of survng justice"

"Well, there is that. And pay. As in a paycheck." Yoake replied. "I don't mean to sound like a greedy, money-hungry jackass, but even geniuses like myself have rent to pay and lights to keep on. And frankly, I like having a warm bath rather than turning my feet into ice cubes." And then there's the fact that it seemed that idiot of a university president doesn't seem to like people who are smarter than him and will probably end up giving the job to some moron with a dead rat for a toupee, so I'm probably going to be out of luck in that job venture. She thought to herself.

Yep, it looked like her mother was right; she was sometimes too damned smart for her own good. At least she wasn't like Sheldon....

Yukina laughed."well of course you get a pay cheque!"

"It had better not be dinky; decent at least. My job interview this morning didn't go as well as I had hoped." Yoake said. "And, permission to do my part of the investigation from my apartment, access to any and all files at all clearance levels, the works. I won't jump through any hoops to have to do my job. And make sure that I have a complete history of the first Kira case." Because there's only so much I can obtain by hacking and not get caught.

Yukina smiled."absolutely"

Hiro grinned.

Yoake gave them a shit-eating grin, once she was finished with her beinget. "Then you have L." She said.

Inside, her stomach had gone into orbit. Around Pluto. I am L. Hard as fuck to believe. I am L, just like my father was. She thought. Once again, I wish I'd known him.

Yukina jumped up."come on!! to the offices!"

Yoake blinked. "Well...then." She said, getting up. Somehow, the three of them had actually finished all their food. Not that there was a ton on the coffee shop menu to begin with, but...yikes. "But there is one thing...wasn't the original L supposed to keep their identity secret? Including their face. I don't see any reason not to go all-out."

Yukina laughed."thats fine with us, Hiro and i will be the olnt ones to meet up with you when nessasary"

Yoake nodded. "Good. If what I read about the previous two Kiras was correct, then this new copycat may have the ability to see a person's actual name and lifespan just by looking at them."

Yukina nodded."yes, well have to figure something out",she said with a sigh.

"And we will," Yoake said. The world already doesn't know my real name, and I hope that it will stay that way.

Yukina smiled.'well lets get you set up some where nice, with all the little toys"

"I've already got a place in mind, so you don't need to worry there." Yoake said. "I'll handle that part of the investigation."

Oh, if only they had any idea who they were asking to be L....

Yukina smiled."okay so were do me and Hiro meet you up at?",she asked looking to Yoake.

Yoake took out a pad and pen and wrote down the address. "Here, in about half an hour. I'll have everything set up for all of us."

Yukina smiled and nodded."right!"

Hiro smiled.'alright lets go"

Yoake nodded and got up as well. She paid for her meal and headed out to her car, ready to head home and gather a few things. And to change into something a bit more comfortable...and less formal.

Hiro hopped in the car with Yukina as she headed back to the station to get a few things.

Hiro watched Yukina."youve been actingw ierd today,you alright?"

Yukina smiled."yeah,just didnt sleep much last night"

Hiro frowned."strange dream again?"

Yukina nodded and sighed."okay , lets go",she said handng him a big box of things and went to the car.

The first thing Yoake did when she got back to her apartment was take a shower. Now that she wasn't stuck in that stupid, sweaty suit, she could change into something a bit more comfy. A pair of old jeans, sneakers, a white t-shirt and a red zip-up hoodie. She blow-dried her hair, brushing it only enough so it wouldn't look like she'd slept in it (though it was still a bit messy), and then picked up her iPhone. She activated the voice-disguising app she had on her phone before dialing.

It picked up after two rings. "Hello, I'd like to reserve a room." Yoake said. "One week, starting today, in about half an hour."

"In half an hour?! Who do you think you are?!"

Yoake grinned, relieved that the man at the desk couldn't see her face or hear her voice. "L."

Yukina stopped off at a candy store and almost bought them out."okay this should last a day or two", she said heading for the hotel.

Yoake was already there when the two detectives arrived. She was sitting cross-legged in a chair, sipping a tall mug of cappuccino with a bowl of fruit--mostly various berries--on the table next to her. "Glad you could make it." She said. Her short hair was spiked up in back, with her bangs falling on either side of her face, parted just slightly to one side.

Hiro looked to her ."I like the hair"

Yukina smiked and healed up the bags of sweets."I bring goodies"
