Doreen laughed. "Oh one day we'll have to have fun with those," she said.

"No," Natasha agreed. "But you still keep to yourselves most of the time. You only join movie nights part of the time, and you tend to take dinner to a different room about half the time." She raised an eyebrow at Laurel. She wasn't blaming her, just curious.

"Oh we will," Darcy said, grinning. "Just say the word and I'll break out all the good stuff."

Laurel was quiet for a moment.

"We're not exactly part of the group," she pointed out finally. "We're just kind of... tagging along."

"Next time," Doreen said, grinning. "For this time we'll let Natasha run things."

Natasha nodded. She understood that. "No one would mind if you decided to become more a part of the group," she said casually. "The group isn't just the Avengers. We have Phil, and Darcy and Jane."

"Awesome." Grinning, Darcy quickly traced a silver line across the tips of the rest of Doreen's nails, and then put a topcoat over all of them. "Let that dry and you're good."

"Okay, first off, Coulson," Laurel said. "And second, Darcy and Jane seem to be a package deal with Thor. Dori and I are kind of... on the outskirts."

"Cool, thanks." Doreen grinned. "I can't do really fancy designs but I can do colors and tips if you want me to return the favor."

Natasha snorted. "Darcy and Jane got here on their own. Honestly Jane spends more time with Bruce talking science recently."

"I can totally teach you how to do the fancy stuff," Darcy offered. "It's easy."

"You know what I mean," Laurel said. "We're not exactly special. Jane's a genius, it seems like, and Darcy put Thor on the ground with a Taser."

"Yes I did," Darcy said proudly.

"That shouldn't be possible," Laurel continued. "Physically or otherwise."

"Sounds good," Doreen agreed. And then she grinned. "Really? A Taser? ...Can I have one?"

Without looking, Natasha reached under her bed and slid a Taser over to Doreen. "But you're not exactly normal yourselves," she said. "To deal with us willingly and be able to keep up with us. Not many people can quip with Tony and Clint."

Darcy snickered as Natasha passed over the Taser.

"She likes you," she said to Doreen.

"We are totally normal," Laurel replied. "And it's not hard to banter with them, really, you just have to be a little quick."

Doreen grinned. "I think I can live with this. This is totally fine with me."

Natasha shook her head. "Most of the agents of SHIELD can't banter with them, for various reasons."

Darcy grinned.

"You're fitting in better already," she said.

"There's a chapter on that in the SHIELD handbook," Laurel volunteered. "I thought it was a joke, until we got here."

Doreen shrugged. "It's been kind of hard to believe that it's okay to relax," she said quietly. "I mean, we used to be normal people, it's crazy and crazy arrogant to think that we can just relax and fit in and everything's fine."

"There is a very good reason for that," Natasha said with a little nod. "Ninety-three percent of SHIELD can't interact with Tony or Clint, let alone both of them together."

"Psh, you'll be fine," Darcy said. "Come on, I was a poli-sci major until Thor fell out of the sky, it doesn't get more normal than that. And now look at me."

"So we fall in that other seven percent," Laurel mused. "Given the size of SHIELD, that's a lot of people who should never cross paths with Tony or Clint."

"Yeah really." Doreen shook her head. "I guess I'm just still adjusting." She grinned briefly.

"You would be surprised how many people Tony manages to meet," Natasha said dryly. "He crashes training days."

"You'll get there," Darcy said. "No worries."

"He does not," Laurel said in disbelief. Then she paused. "What am I saying, of course he does, why would he not?"

Doreen grinned a bit and let Darcy finish off her nails, a little more relaxed now.

Natasha nodded. "Precisely. None of them can deal with him. Well, almost none. There is the occasional junior agent who can, and they're quietly transferred to private coaching to deal with superheroes."

Laurel snorted.

"Catching the good ones early, then," she said. "This have anything to do with the fun little team I've heard stirrings about? The one that's supposedly coached directly by Coulson?"

"That's a different area," Natasha said with a shrug. "He's got his own team to deal with some other issues. He does, however, help coach the potential handlers still."

"Fun," Laurel said. She looked at her nails closely once they were done. "I really like this, thanks. Why these colors, though?"

"Subtle messages," Natasha said with a faint smirk. Because she saw everything and knew almost as much as Jarvis about what happened in the Tower.

"Maybe a little too subtle?" Laurel asked, studying her nails. The red, white, and blue were bold, and the abstract pattern was pretty, but she had no idea why Natasha had picked those particular colors.

Natasha just chuckled quietly. "Steve," she murmured, putting those colors away since she was done. She'd have to pick new colors for Darcy next.

Laurel blinked.

"What about him?" she asked even as she turned faintly pink. Okay, yeah, now she knew what the colors were for but really, Natasha had entirely the wrong idea.

"Lies," Laurel replied immediately. "It's not nothing or else it wouldn't have come up in the first place." She was still a bit pink, but she didn't press the issue at all.

Darcy just snickered and dug through the nail polish colors again to see what she could find for Natasha.

Natasha snorted but let Darcy pick out her nail color. Darcy knew what she liked by now. Doreen just grinned as she lounged and watched.
