Doreen got up and made blini in the morning. She noticed Natasha pause at the sight of the Russian breakfast, and she grinned to herself.

Barnes also blinked a bit in surprise at the Russian breakfast when it was brought to him. He hadn't realized that anyone knew how to make it.

"I looked up a couple recipes a while ago for Natasha," Doreen said, setting down the tray with a sampling of food, tea, and orange juice. "Thought you might like it too."

"Thank you," Barnes said after a few beats of silence. "It is... somewhat familiar." That was as close as he could get at the moment to saying that it was something he was used to.

Dori grinned at that. "I'm glad," she said, nudging the tray closer to him so he could reach it easily from his favorite spot on the floor. "Anyway, I'll let you eat, I should probably go eat too, or something."

Barnes nodded and waited for her to go before taking the tray and starting on breakfast. It was better than he thought it would be.

Over the next few months, Dori regularly took him food, cookies, and company, and she and Laurel got into the habit of watching a movie with him at least once a week. Between that and Steve's more frequent visits, it didn't take too long for the programming to wear off (at least mostly) and for him to regain enough memories that he knew who he was.

So Dori was thrilled when he was allowed out, and a few weeks after he'd been given his own proper room and had settled in with the rest of the team, she was making dinner and a huge batch of cookies for movie night.

And if there were three dozen snickerdoodles set aside and guarded from Clint, well, she was just being nice.

Barnes was slowly warming up to everyone else, too. He let Steve start calling him Bucky again, now that he remembered who Bucky was (for the most part). He had also taken up running with Steve in the mornings, and they were able to give each other a good challenge.

Movie nights could still be a little awkward, though, and Bucky found himself curled in the chair on the end as he waited for everyone to pick a movie.

"Just turn on Lord of the Rings!" Doreen yelled from the kitchen.

"No, those are three hours each, and besides, Hawkass can't shut up through them!" Tony scowled.

"Nope, too bad, overruled. Jarvis?"

"Certainly." Jarvis sounded highly amused. Doreen grinned at her victory and carried two plates of cookies out to the living room, setting the plate of snickerdoodles in front of Barnes, unaware to the sharp eyes following her movements.

"Oh come on," Laurel whined. "No, not fair, I'm not mentally prepared for a ten-hour marathon, Dori!"

"I've never seen them," Bucky volunteered cautiously, glancing around. "Heard of 'em, sure, but never seen them."

"We can watch one tonight," Doreen said with a grin, settling on the end of the couch closest to Bucky. "Maybe get half-way through two. We don't actually have to marathon them." Even though she probably would anyway.

"You might get through two," Laurel said. "I slept through the entire Battle of Minas Tirith once. I probably won't make it past the first movie tonight."

"Clearly you have not seen Clint during any of the major battle scenes," Doreen said with a grin. "It'll be fun." She grinned and took a snickerdoodle to munch on as the movie started.

Laurel rolled her eyes and settled in.

Bucky also took a snickerdoodle, nibbling on it slowly as the movie started. He didn't want to go through too many of the cookies, or eat them too quickly. They were definitely something to savor.

Doreen noticed he had a habit of doing that and rolled her eyes at him. Really, she could make endless batches of cookies, especially since she'd hands-down beaten Tony's cookie robot.

Tony was still a bit sore over that, and he'd sequestered the defeated robot down in his lab with its cousins. But that didn't stop him from hoarding a bunch of chocolate chip cookies like a squirrel.

Bucky didn't notice the eye-roll and just settled in for the movie. The special effects were really fantastic, he had to admit.

Natasha, however, was not distracted this time by Clint's ranting and the various other forms of entertainment. No, she had a much better subject to observe. Two subjects, actually. Two clueless subjects.

Oh, this was going to be entertaining.

The next morning, Bucky was up early with Steve, out running. It was something familiar that gave them some bonding time.

Sam was also out running that day. He'd seen Steve out running several times, and the two were sort of passingly familiar, but the dark-haired guy wasn't familiar. Sam just blinked and watched them as they passed, shaking his head and continuing on his own nice easy jog.

The two lapped Sam again.

"On your left," Steve said. Bucky stayed quiet for the moment.

"I can hear you coming!" Sam yelled after them. Because damn if Captain America wasn't going to drive him nuts.

Bucky snickered. The next lap, it was him who spoke up.

"On your right," he said.

Sam growled at them both and ran after them, but he gave up quickly and just finished his jog, going to flop in the shade.

Steve and Bucky finished their laps and came to a halt near Sam.

"You doing alright?" Steve asked, holding out a hand to help Sam to his feet.

Sam took his hand after a moment and got to his feet. "Recovering the shreds of my dignity from being lapped four times by Captain America," he said with a bit of a snort.
