"Need a hand with that?" Dori asked, unable to help herself as she set the plate down in front of Bucky.

Natasha paused at that. Sure, Bucky was much better recently, but they'd managed by and large to refrain from making hand and arm jokes so far.

Bucky just gave her a Look.

"You really want to start cracking hand and arm jokes?" he asked as he set his arm down and reached for a snickerdoodle. He smirked. "You wouldn't want to make fun of an unarmed man, would you?"

Laurel couldn't stifle the snort that surprised out of her.

"You're only partially unarmed," Dori shot back with a grin. "Besides, you don't seem to mind getting handsy when there are cookies involved."

Steve grinned slowly. Oh this was very, very good. Natasha was smirking for another reason, though only Sam noticed.

"I've gotta hand it to you, the puns are a bit disarming," Bucky retorted, reattaching his arm once he'd checked all of the finger joints.

Laurel giggled helplessly at the puns, having abandoned looking through her pictures for the moment.

"Of course you have to hand it to me, I am always punny," Dori said. "And witty. You going to stop wiggling your fingers at me and grab another cookie or do I have to hand it to you?" She really, really couldn't help herself.

"Relax, I just need to calibrate the pressure sensors again," Bucky said as he flexed his fingers. He did reach for a snickerdoodle with his real hand, though. "Unhand the snickerdoodles."

"Make me." Dori was a bit surprised with herself when she let that slip, and she paused, unsure if she should leave the challenge or drop it and walk away while she was ahead.

Bucky raised an eyebrow.

"What, no comeback pun?" he asked, grinning. He snagged a cookie from the plate.

"What can I say, the technical speak coming from you disarmed me." She grinned and waggled her eyebrows.

Steve dropped his head, biting his lower lip to keep from laughing outright.

"Cheater, I already used 'disarm'," Bucky said, taking a big bite out of the cookie. "Arm yourself with better puns."

Laurel was curled up in the corner of the couch, shaking with silent laughter.

"Oh come on, we both used hand a couple times," Dori said with a shrug. "Besides, I didn't happen to have a better pun handy. At the time."

Bucky snorted.

"We can keep going like this all day," he said. "Truce?"

"Only if we shake on it," Dori quipped with a grin.

Steve gave up and just started laughing at them.

Bucky grinned, popped his arm off again, and held it out to Doreen hand-first.

Laurel lost it as well, laughing helplessly.

"Damn, I hate shaking with my left," Doreen groused with a grin, taking his hand and actually tugging it all the way into her lap. "Whoops." But her grin was all mischief.

Steve managed, in between gasping for breath, to make sure that Laurel wasn't in danger of falling off the couch.

Bucky snorted and pulled it back, slipping it back into the socket. But his grin was genuine and body language was easy and relaxed, and that was good.

Laurel was leaning against Steve, gasping between giggles for air.

"That was golden," she squeaked.

Doreen grinned at that. "Leave some cookies for everyone else," she said, poking him good-naturedly as she got up to go finish off the other batch of cookies.

Steve just nodded, still laughing too hard to actually reply.

Sam just watched the whole thing.

"What just happened?" he asked, glancing at Natasha. "Does this happen often?"

"No," Natasha said with a little smile. "That type of puns is new. I wouldn't recommend trying it yet."

"Yeah, no, wasn't planning on it," Sam replied, still watching the spectacle.

Natasha nodded, still smiling that secretive little smile. Oh yes, she was going to see that this happened.

Steve finally straightened out, still regaining his breath. Oh that had been much too fun, and so much like Bucky.

Sam looked at Natasha.

"Whatever you're planning, I want in," he said to her.

Natasha quirked an eyebrow at him before she nodded, very slightly, and made her way into another room to get away from prying ears.

"He hasn't flirted with anyone like that before," she told Sam quietly. "But he's too... bull-headed, perhaps, to take initiative at this point."

"Never would have guessed," Sam said, glancing back in Bucky's direction. "I would have thought this happens all the time."

Natasha shook her head. "It doesn't," she said. "Of course, he hasn't really realized yet that he's flirting with her." Which was the problem.
