"Extra cream, half the sugar, and some caramel, if they have it," Laurel said, staying close to him. She'd seen the coffee shop before, but had never gone in, so she wasn't sure what they had or how the people were.

Steve nodded. "I'll grab the coffees if you want to pick a table," he offered. The shop was quiet at this time of day, leaving plenty of tables open for them.

Laurel nodded.

"Sure," she said. Turning, she looked around for a suitable table. Eventually, she picked one that was near a window, but wouldn't put Steve with his back to anyone.

Steve walked over with their drinks, setting hers down before settling into his own seat.

"You've been staying in the living room a lot lately," he said with a quick glance at her, holding his coffee between his hands.

"Is that a subtle hint that you want the living room back for video games?" Laurel asked, picking up her coffee. She held it for a moment, letting the heat seep into her fingers, and then grinned at him teasingly.

Steve snorted. "No, that would be Clint," he said with a grin. "And he always wants to play video games."

"I'm surprised Tony hasn't designed a dozen different versions of the GameBoy yet," Laurel said, grinning a bit. "Just testing them all on Clint."

"He's designed a few things like that and given them to Clint," Steve said. "In between all his other projects. Sometimes I'm surprised he gets anything done."

"It's a coping mechanism, I think," Laurel said. "Keeps his mind off of things he'd rather not re-live." She'd been in the tower long enough to see that, at least.

Steve nodded. All of them had their own methods of coping, after all.

"So, what are you hiding from in the tower?" he asked, looking at her.

"Hiding from?" Laurel asked. "What do you mean?"

"You've been staying in the living room a lot," Steve said gently. "Just in the living room. You used to wander all over, or go out and do things. Now most of the time you're in the living room and Doreen is in the kitchen."

"Just... got comfortable there, I guess," Laurel said, looking down at her coffee. "I never really paid attention." Although, if she were honest, she felt a bit as if everyone expected her to be there, so that's where she stayed. And, possibly, it wasn't as much fun going out and about by herself, now that Doreen was spending more time with Bucky.

"Uh huh." Steve eyed her and decided not to call her on it this time. Instead, he decided to distract her.

"Well, then, since you've got all this time on your hands, maybe you want to check out a place with me?"

"Where were you thinking of going?" Laurel asked, a smidge too quickly. Now that the option of going out somewhere with someone had been presented, it was appealing.

"There's a place that plays old swing music on Wednesday nights," Steve said. "I've been meaning to drop in and sit and listen for a while."

"Swing music?" Laurel asked, a bit intrigued. "I've never really heard it before." She grinned a bit. "Sure, I'll go."

"Great." Steve smiled. "I'll let you know what time when I find out." And then he could tell Bucky that he'd asked her out, so get a move on.

And hopefully after all of this he wouldn't make a fool of himself in front of Laurel.

"Sounds good," Laurel said, nodding. She took another sip of her coffee and glanced absently out the window. She blinked when she saw someone taking a picture of Steve from the curb. "And it looks like one of your fans found you," she commented to him.

"Not uncommon," Steve allowed with a little sigh. "They seem to know anytime I stop somewhere for more than ten minutes. As long as they don't get rude about it, though, I don't mind so much."

"I'd give it half an hour before I get some alerts about blog submissions," Laurel said. She grinned a bit. "That's what you get for being a super hero," she teased.

Steve chuckled. "I'm used to it," he said. "Mostly. Things happen a lot faster now. It used to take a while longer for people to find me."

Laurel grinned when her phone pinged at her, and she looked at the alert.

"Yeah, here," she said, checking the blog. "Someone tagged you on Instagram and submitted it." She handed him her phone so he could see it.

Steve chuckled. "It's not even that good a picture," he said, handing it back. "I don't know why people are so obsessed with finding out what I do and where I go."

"You're famous," Laurel replied, taking her phone back and approving the submission. "Most people will never get the chance to meet you. The ones that even might get that chance tend to jump on the opportunity."
