For a novel. I decided long ago I'm not going into novel writing, but I still like to make up stories and characters.

I was thinking writing storylines for games. When I try to write in novel format, it looks weird.

I think of ideas and go, "That would be awesome!" And then the next day I'm like, "That is absolutely ridiculous. *redoes at least half of work*"
I'd rather do something game-worthy with my characters than something novel-worthy. My story ideas I've had that could be adapted to games sound better to me.

I can see how that works. I on the other hand just feel like I need a second author to help me get past the point I hit the wall.

Which is why my story planning (which I'm doing now) is mostly me laughing at my own jokes and striking out bad ideas I might fix later.

the thing I dislike about writing on the computer is you go and deleat half a bit of writing only to realize later that some of that was still good. yet now you cant get it back.

Most word document programs have the un-do option.

I dislike writing by hand because I write a ton only to realize it's bad or I made a mistake!
And that's why I strike out bad ideas that still have potential instead of entirely getting rid of them.

I am thinking you delete it and then go on working, close it out and then open it back up only to realize that you should have not saved it before having the deleted stuff saved.

I don't know how to strike out.

Oh, there are times that I just cut things out and then paste them into another document so that I still have them, just not in it - or I white them out (make them white so I can't see the text at all.)

I don't know if Microsoft Word can. To use the strike system in what I have, I have to highlight the text, right-click it, and then choose "Strikethrough" from the "Style" menu.

OpenOffice. It's not that different from Microsoft Office.
