Bree had gotten there a bit early with Charlotte to let her get settled in and start supplying her with mint tea and scones. She did look over when she heard the bell over the door and she waved to John with a grin.

Sherlock looked around the place critically for several moments before sedately following John.

Charlotte was sipping at a mint tea when she saw the other dragon. She just watched him carefully as he and the human walked over.

John grinned back and went over to Bree.

"You haven't been waiting long, I hope?" he asked as he sat down. He gestured for Sherlock to sit, as well.

"Nope, not long, just decided to get here a bit early." Bree grinned. "John, this is Charlotte. Charlotte, these are John, and Sherlock, if I remember correctly."

Sherlock nodded the two, his eyes lingering on Charlotte for longer, before he leaned back in his seat. He'd see how this went.

John nodded.

"You're right, this is Sherlock," he said, gesturing to the dragon. "Sherlock, Bree and Charlotte."

Charlotte just gave a very brief nod in greeting. She glanced at the other dragon one more time before sipping her tea some more. She would reserve judgement for now.

Bree nodded to Sherlock before she looked at John again.

"There's a menu, if either of you are hungry, or you can just get tea and scones." She pushed the appropriate menus over to the two.

John nodded and handed a menu to Sherlock before taking one for himself.

"Actually, tea and scones sounds lovely," he said.

"Excellent. If you order tea, they usually just bring out a pot." Bree tapped her own pot. She'd gone with butterscotch tea today, and a chocolate chip scone.

"That sounds good," John said. He glanced at the menu, and ordered a pot of the tea he knew Sherlock liked. Sherlock was a bit of a purist when it came to tea flavors, and John didn't mind much.

Sherlock nodded very slightly his approval of the tea selection. He didn't usually have anything flavored, which fortunately John knew well. He did keep his eyes on the two ladies though.

Charlotte watched Sherlock and John in return, just quietly sipping her tea and nibbling at a scone. Occasionally, steam delicately curled from her nose as she breathed.

Bree relaxed a bit when there was no immediate violence or rejection or anything. She'd had things go worse before.

"So, how often do you normally drag yours out and about?" she asked John with a grin.

"Not often," John admitted. "Sherlock tends to drag me along, instead, actually. You?"

"Depends on her mood," Bree said with a grin. "We end up going about half and half; half the time I drag her, the other half it's the other way around."

John grinned back.

"Sounds about normal," he said, nodding. He let Sherlock at the teapot first when it arrived.

Bree grinned a bit when she noticed. Oh she figured he'd have to be a good companion to still have his dragon, but that just proved her theory.

Sherlock took the pot and poured himself a cup before taking John's mug and pouring his too. Just because.

Charlotte had noticed, too, and was observing the interactions between the two. She was grudgingly impressed; the pair seemed effortlessly attentive to one another and obviously cared a great deal for each other.

John accepted the mug from Sherlock, subtly touching the dragon's hand to convey his thanks. He knew Sherlock didn't particularly like public displays of affection, so subtle gestures were best.

Sherlock settled back into his seat with his mug, well pleased with his human's condition. This wasn't even so bad; the tea smell was pleasant, and there weren't a lot of humans to muddle it up.

Bree smiled a bit and refilled her own mug, adding sugar and letting it dissolve. She was in no rush, after all.

Charlotte watched Sherlock, still sipping her mint tea delicately. She still steamed, occasionally; being a fire-breather, it was sometimes inevitable, even in her humanoid form. But she did periodically glance at Bree to check on her.

"So," John said, after a few moments of quiet. "How long have you both been partners?"

"The two of us have been partnered a little over three years," Bree said with a little grin. "How about you two?"

Sherlock had noticed that and had already figured out what she was. He was similar, but he didn't usually steam. Not unless he wanted to, or got really angry.

"Five, this year," John replied. "Though sometimes it feels a lot longer."

Bree snickered. "Oh I know exactly how that goes," she said with a grin. "Some days it feels like a lot longer than three years."

John nodded with a grin.

"So what do you do?" he asked. "I mean, I know we're provided with the salary to look after our partners, but do you do anything outside of that?"

"I do. Odd jobs. I've written commentaries and things for the local paper, I've tutored, things like that. Things with odd hours, usually." Bree grinned. "How about you?"

"I was a doctor in the army, before," John said. "I help out over at the clinic when I can, now."

"A doctor, huh? Sounds... intense." Bree shook her head a bit. "I don't think my hands are steady enough for that."
