I'll just start composing a ping list and then when I post it I'll ask people to let me know if they'd rather not be pinged in the future. I understand how it could be frustrating to people, although I rather like pings. They make sure I notice posts in the threads I don't check often.

The only time I find it annoying is when it's my own thread. I usually have an email alert set up for my threads, so there's no reason to ping me, I'll see it no matter what. xD
