"Right," Ivy agreed. She was quiet for a few moments, just enjoying her drink and the company and how relaxed things were.

The food was just being set at their table when Logan heard a noise outside. He would have just brushed it off, but it was a familiar sort of noise that had no place at a diner in the middle of a city. It was definitely the sound of claws on brick, and Logan swore under his breath.

Ivy noticed. "What?" she asked quietly. She didn't touch her food yet.

"Date may get cut short," Logan said. "Sorry about that. Not something I can help." His wings pulled in tight, out of the way, and the feathers lay down as flat as possible.

"Trouble?" Ivy asked, her voice carefully neutral. Her own wings shivered a bit and pulled in as well.

"Yeah," Logan replied, not bothering to sugar-coat it. He growled softly when he finally caught the scent he'd been waiting for, and he got up. "Stay here." With that, he headed outside to try to head off Sabertooth.

Sabertooth was waiting for him outside, smirking. "Took you long enough," he taunted. "I was beginning to wonder if I'd have to go in there."

"Tryin' to keep the people from panickin'," Logan replied. "What do you want, Victor? If yer look in' for a fight, let's take this were there's more room for me to kick yer ass."

Victor shook his head a bit. "Oh, I think here is just fine," he drawled. "Although I am curious. This isn't your normal type of place."

"You can take yer curiosity and shove it," Logan said, carefully keeping himself between Victor and the diner.

Victor, of course, noticed that and started to circle Logan to see how far he'd have to push to get him to move. "Oh, I don't know, I rather like this area."

Logan's wings flared a bit, making it harder for Victor to circle him, and his claws slid out of his knuckles.

"Get outta here before I make you," he snarled.

Victor grinned. "I don't think I want to," he said. Oh yes, Logan was very protective of that building... or someone inside. Granted, Logan was normally protective of people in general, but this was a different level.

Logan growled warningly and widened his stance. Yeah, it looked like it would come down to a fight, and he was ready for it.

Victor grinned. "So, who are you protecting this time?" he asked as his claws lengthened.

Logan snorted.

"The whole diner not enough for ya?" he replied, watching Victor carefully. "Gotta pick and choose now?"

"You're not usually this careful of people in general." Victor shrugged. "You can't have changed that much in a year."

"Don't talk like you know," Logan retorted, growling. He wasn't going to start the fight himself, not so close to the diner, but he wasn't going to hold back if Victor started things, either.

Victor grinned and started towards him and around him, just to see what he'd do. Because if he could instigate a fight, he would. Just because.

Logan shifted so he was still between Victor and the diner. He finally took a swipe at the other mutant when Victor got too close, claw blades flashing in the light.

Victor danced back out of the way, his wings half-flaring in response. Then he grinned and moved forward again. Now things were getting fun.

Logan took another swipe at him, aiming for the wings. He knew (from experience, unfortunately) that if he was given exactly the right moment, his claws were long enough to take an entire wing off.

Victor hissed at that and danced back out of the way. He'd lost a wing before; that had hurt. But he was quick to retaliate, kicking Logan back into the wall behind him.

Logan hit the brick hard enough to crack it, knocking the wind out of him. He got his feet under him again as quick as he could and jumped at Victor again, snarling.

Victor grinned and settled into the fight easily. They had been fighting for a while, after all, and it was always a challenge.

But he still wasn't quite expecting to hit Logan hard enough to send him through the wall.
