Steve smiled a bit and looked at his cheesecake for a few moments before he carefully took a bit on his fork and ate it.

"Not bad," he admitted.

Kate grinned and took a bite of her pie.

"Okay," she said, "you win. This is really good pie."

Steve laughed a bit. "I'm not a huge fan of cheesecake, but as cheesecake goes, this is pretty good," he said, taking another bite.

"I like cheesecake," Kate admitted. "Probably more than is strictly good for me, but it's just so good." She took another bite of the pie. "But this is still phenomenal pie."

"It is good pie." Steve grinned. "And I know good pie." He did eat the rest of the cheesecake though.

"It is really good pie," Kate agreed. She finished her pie and went back to sipping her coffee. "Oooh, this is good stuff. They always make good stuff here."

"Mmhm." Steve grinned. "Good coffee, good staff, nice atmosphere... Nice place."

"Good company," Kate offered, grinning a bit and blushing. Her wings fluttered again.

"Good company," Steve agreed with a brief grin. His own wings fluttered a bit in response.

Kate smiled a bit, still pink, and her feathers fluffed a little in pleasure.

"Maybe we should do this again sometime?" she suggested.

"I think I'd like that," Steve said, also a bit pink. His own feathers fluffed up in response, showing off the few bright feathers.

The bright feathers caught Kate's eye, and she had to admit that she liked them very much.

"How does next week sound?" she asked. "Maybe Friday?"

"Sure," Steve said with a grin. "Two o'clock?" Hopefully that would work for him, and nothing else would come up.

"Sounds good," Kate said, grinning. "I'll meet you here?"

"Sounds good," Steve agreed. He left enough on the table to cover both their drinks and snacks and a tip.

Kate definitely noticed that.

"Oh no, you don't have to do that," she said, reaching for her wallet. "I can pay for my own, it's no big deal..."

"First date, I'll pay," Steve said with a bit of a grin. "Next time you can pay for yours."

"Deal," Kate said. "I'll hold you to that." She grinned. "I did have a lot of fun tonight. I'm kind of glad I went to that thing, now."

"Me too," Steve said with a bashful little grin. "It was worth it."

"It was," Kate agreed with a little smile. She held out a hand. "Walk me back?"

"Sure," Steve agreed, taking her hand easily and walking with her back to the building. But he took his time.

Kate definitely didn't mind that he took his time. It gave her more time to look at him and get used to him a bit.

Steve snuck a couple more glances at her, his wings reaching out once to just barely touch hers. It was a cautious, gentle, almost-flirting motion.

Kate blushed, but flexed her wing just slightly to brush against his in return.

Steve grinned and stopped outside the building.

"I'm glad I decided to talk to you," he said quietly.
