"I'm glad you did, too," Kate replied, smiling a bit. "I'm glad I agreed to go out for coffee."

Steve smiled. "Me too. I'll see you again Friday?"

"I'll see you then," Kate confirmed, nodding. "Call me if anything changes, my schedule's not set in stone."

"Same here," Steve said with a bit of a grin. "I'll talk to you again soon." He took a step back and finally let go of her hand.

Kate reluctantly let go of his hand and fluttered her wings a bit, and then headed back inside to see if she could find Ivy.

Ivy hadn't gone back inside though Logan had left a little while ago after exchanging phone numbers. So she headed back with Kate.

A few days later, she was very surprised to hear from Logan again. Honestly, she hadn't expected him to call.

Logan hadn't expected to call, either. He almost suspected Charles's influence, but he knew that Charles didn't like to interfere like that.

"Hey," he said when she picked up. "Not sure if you remember me from the other night. Figured I'd call and ask if you wanted to go out sometime?"

Ivy blinked a few times. "Sure," she said. "Sounds good to me. When's good for you?" She hadn't thought she'd made an impression, and was kind of pleased to find that she had.

"How's tomorrow night sound?" Logan asked. "Dinner?"

"Sure," Ivy agreed. "I know this nice little diner, if you're interested. Mostly comfort food with some Italian and Mexican thrown in for fun."

Logan considered that for a moment.

"Sure," he said. "Sounds good."

"Say seven o'clock?" Ivy's wings fluttered. It had been a while since she'd been on a date, and she was feeling fluttery.

"Seven is fine," Logan replied. He paused for a second. "I can pick you up, if you want."

"Okay," Ivy agreed after a moment of quick mental calculations. The diner was close enough to walk. Barely, but it was. She gave him her address too.

"I'll see you tomorrow evening, then," Logan said.

"See you." Ivy hung up, her wings quivering a little in mixed anticipation and apprehension. But she shook herself and made herself to take a shower.

Kate saw Ivy once her roommate was out of the shower.

"What was that about?" she asked from the couch. She was in the middle of preening her feathers, and there were a few broken and shed ones on the floor next to her.

"Guy I met the other day at the singles' thing was calling to ask me out." Ivy blinked. She was still kind of shocked at that.

"Really?" Kate grinned. "Good for you. I guess you two hit it off well. When are you going out?"

"Tomorrow night. He's picking me up and we're going to the diner." Ivy's wings fluttered a bit in anxious excitement.

"That's great," Kate said, still grinning. "I think that means a shopping trip is in order, you need something new to wear and it's about time we went clothes shopping together, anyways."

Ivy huffed. "Alright," she agreed. "Well, I guess I'll just go grab shoes and we can go."

"Take your time, I still have some feathers to comb out," Kate said, working out a shed feather from between three others.

Ivy nodded and headed up the stairs to get her shoes and socks. She figured she'd groom out her feathers and shower that night, or the next morning.

Kate was just pulling out the last of the shed feathers and straightening the rest of her plumage when Ivy came back downstairs. Quickly, she gathered up the shed feathers and threw them out, shaking her wings out a bit and slipping on her shoes.

"Ready when you are," she said.
