"Call if you need a pickup," Kate said. "I'll have my phone next to me all night."

Ivy nodded. "Okay. I'll let you know." She grinned briefly. "Maybe things will go well and we won't have to do anything extra."

"I'm sure things will go fine," Kate said. "What time did he say he was picking you up?"

"Seven," Ivy said, glancing at her phone. "So I've still got half an hour."

"Want me to check your feathers real quick?" Kate offered. It was always a good idea to ask; it was rude to just touch someone's wings without their permission, and people could be very sensitive about it.

"Sure. Thanks." Ivy spread her wings to make it easier. She didn't mind Kate touching, but anyone else was a bit iffy.

Kate gently worked her fingers between Ivy's feathers, straightening out any crooked ones and carefully taking out any that had been shed.

"Feel alright?" she asked.

"Yup. I feel okay so far." Ivy smiled a bit. "I think I'll settle down when we actually get to the diner."

"Well, your feathers look good," Kate said, letting go again. "Glossy and lovely."

"Great, thanks." Ivy smiled a bit and took a deep breath. "At least I don't have to worry about that."

"I'm sure the date will be fine," Kate said. She looked over quickly when the doorbell rang, and then looked at Ivy. "I bet that's him."

Ivy nodded and grabbed her purse, going to go answer the door. She took a breath before she opened the door, shooting Logan a quick smile.

Someone (likely Charles) had managed to talk Logan into nice pants and a polo shirt with short sleeves that did absolutely nothing to play down the muscles in his arms.

"Evening," he said. "Ready to go?"

"Yeah." Ivy smiled a bit and slipped out the door, shutting it behind her. Her wings fluttered a little. "Thanks for driving."

"No problem," Logan replied. "So where's this place you like?"

"Not far," Ivy said, giving him directions. "You'll probably want to park in back, it's easier to find a spot back there."

Logan nodded.

"I'll keep that in mind," he said as he drove.

Ivy let him drive, trying to relax. She figured that would be easier once they got to the diner.

"I was kind of surprised you called," she admitted.

"Didn't realize I wanted to," Logan admitted. "For a coupla days, at least."

Ivy chuckled. "Yeah, I know that feeling," she agreed. "Especially since it's often hard to tell about people in the first meeting."

"No kidding," Logan replied. He parked around back of the restaurant and parked in the best spot he could find. "This good?"

"Yeah, this is fine." Ivy got out and headed around front, noting how many people there were. Busy but not slammed, which was good. She wanted this place to keep busy so it would stay in business.

Logan nodded and got out of the car. He shook out his wings briefly and resettled them, folding them in tight against his back. Not nervously-tight, but more like he was just used to keeping them out of the way.

"Let's go in, then," he said.

Ivy kept her own wings tucked close as the hostess showed them back to a table for two. Settling in quickly, Ivy relaxed a bit.

"So, is that friend who prompted you to going to the event over the weekend happier now?" She grinned a bit.

"Who, Chuck?" Logan asked. He snorted a bit. "Man's never not happy lately, it feels like."
