Athena grinned and fired another dart, ducking back behind a chair.

"You might want to get out of the way," she commented to Kyle. She looked up at Clint. "The lawyer's off-limits, we want him to like us!"

Kyle half-hid, watching the two with amusement and bemusement.

"You can't trust a lawyer," Clint called back from the other side of the room. "Besides, I don't generally shoot unarmed guests."

"We don't usually have guests," Athena pointed out, searching him out before shooting another dart at him.

Clint grinned. "There's probably a reason for that," he said, putting a dart in the chair next to her head intentionally.

Athena grinned and returned fire. She managed to get in a lucky shot and the dart hit his shoulder.

Clint grumbled as he dropped down to ground level again. "Fine, fine," he said. "I didn't even hit the lawyer."

"Good," Athena said, grinning. "Wow, that was a lucky shot. It usually takes a lot longer before you feel sorry enough for me to let me win."

"Yeah, you got lucky today," Clint agreed. "Next time it won't be so fast."

"I'm sure," Athena said, stashing the Nerf gun back behind the couch again. "Go on and help Bruce cook."

"Yeah, yeah," Clint said. He looked over at the lawyer. "Kyle, right? Any dietary restrictions?"

Kyle shook his head with a brief grin. "None that I've found yet," he said. "Fortunately."

"Good," Clint said. He turned to head into the kitchen. "Now it's time to go see what Bruce has planned for dinner."

Kyle chuckled. So far, everything seemed to be good. He could definitely work with this. Although he'd feel more comfortable when the weres came out of hiding.

Once Clint was in the kitchen, Athena sighed and stretched.

"Now we wait," she said. "You can either go watch them cook, which is highly amusing when it's Clint's turn, or you can settle here in the living room for a bit until dinner is ready. We're not big on using the table, we all kind of just congregate out here."

Kyle nodded. "Alright," he agreed. "That seemed quite normal for this house." He quirked an eyebrow at her.

"It was," Athena said, grinning a bit. "Clint likes dodging kitchen duty when he can, but it's mostly a show. He doesn't put up much of a fight over it."

Kyle nodded. "Do the cats ever cook?" he asked. The higher level of normalcy would help his case.

"Yeah, all the time," Athena said. "We're all on a rotation. Bruce is the main cook, but we all take turns helping out."

Kyle nodded. "I take it they normally stay here. And it seems to me that apart from being under-socialized, they live much as normal Weres do."

"Many of the weres who pass through here tend to be a bit skittish around people," Athena pointed out. "The ones who live here permanently are sometimes moreso. Of the three, Steve is the best around people, though. And they're all welcome to leave any time they like, they choose to stay."

And that would be where things differed, and what Kyle would have to make into a good thing. That would require some research, not that that was unexpected.

"Alright. So at the moment you just have the three cats staying here?"

"At the moment," Athena said, nodding. "Although Tony has a contact who may be sending someone our way soon."

Kyle nodded. "Hopefully that will wait for a little bit, until we get this figured out," he said. "I'm hoping this won't be too drawn out, but I'm not holding my breath."

"Let Tony know to pass the word along," Athena said. "Maybe his contact can hold things off long enough for this whole thing to settle. No guarantees, though."

Kyle nodded his understanding. Yeah, he imaged that sometimes things just couldn't wait. "How do you find out about the Weres that you get? I know you said you found Steve, but you purchased the other two. How did you find out they needed to be relocated, in your opinion?"

"Hearsay, sometimes," Athena said. "Between me, Clint, and Bruce, we hear a lot about weres. Sometimes we see it for ourselves. A lot of times, Tony will leave for a few days and come back with one. A few find us on their own."
