"The park will be nice." He said as he started to eat his food. "Delicious." He said with a smile. "I was thinking, that we should get a vacation home somewhere in the country. You know, lots of land, maybe on the water." He picked at his salad.

"You already have... Lots of houses," Bruce finished lamely, not really knowing how many houses Tony owned, just that the number was ridiculous. "But we could definitely use a vacation. How's your omelette?"

"Yeah but most of my homes are in cities. I was thinking of getting one that's in a far less busy place." He said with a smile. He would sell any number of houses to give Bruce a quiet retreat. "And it's wonderful."

Bruce smiled. "That would be great," he said, "Just you and me, somewhere quiet... Anywhere specific you have in mind?"

"Not really." Tony said with a smile. "It can be anywhere you would like." He said finishing his food. He started cleaning up. He was very glad he didn't have any meetings today.

Bruce got off his chair and followed Tony. "I don't know..." he said, "Somewhere quiet. And beautiful. I'm sure you'll think of something good."

"What about the French countryside?" He asked as he washed up the dishes. He had asked this just to see what sort of reaction he could get out of Bruce, though he'd do it in a heartbeat if that's what Bruce wanted.

"France... I haven't been to France in years," Bruce muttered. And that one time he was there, it was for a conference, so he didn't get to see or experience much. "I suppose we could go there for a while."

"I'd love to get a nice house out in the French countryside. A little cottage perhaps." Tony said leaning over and nuzzling his boyfriend.

Bruce nodded, smiling. "Sounds wonderful," he agreed. Just Tony and him. No Avengers, no one. They could use some alone time.

"I'll look into getting us a place this evening. I'm going to go get ready for our day in the park." He said grinning as he kissed his boyfriend and headed to their room to get changed.

Bruce, who was already dressed, waited for him in the living room. They were going to have a great day together.

Tony was already starting to feel the effects of not having any alcohol and his hands shake a bit as he gets dressed. He could do this, he would do this. He came out several minutes later dressed in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. "Sorry that took so long." He said. He does have a nick on his face from his shaving.

"That's OK," Bruce said, leaning forward to kiss him. He knew Tony was going to have a difficult day, and wanted to help him make it easier. "So, shall we-" "I apologize for interrupting, Dr. Banner," JARVIS's voice suddenly filled the living room.

"What is it Jarvis?" Tony asked with a snap. This did not bode well for their day at all. "If it can wait I don't want to hear it."

"I'm afraid this is an urgent matter, Mr. Stark," The AI responded.

"Fine what is it then?" He wondered if it was really urgent or if he might be able to put this off.

"You have been called to assemble."
Oh, shit. Oh, shit. This was the last thing they needed right now.

"Fuck." He's so not in the mood for this shit right now. "Where?" He looked down at his hands that were shaking wondering if he could even do this. He had been drinking pretty much steadily since he had turned twenty-one.

Unconsciously, Bruce grabbed Tony's hand, needing some kind of grounding, some kind of reassurance.
"The helicarrier will be here shortly, Mr. Stark," was all JARVIS was willing to say. Bruce bit his lip. The thought of having to let the Other Guy out... He really didn't want this. Not today.

"Come on." He said heading to his basement garage. They wouldn't be here when the hellicarrier got here. "We're getting out of here." He grabbed a key and headed to his Ferrari. He opened the door for Bruce and then got in. Soon they had taken off and were heading out of dodge.

Without thinking, Bruce got into the car. Only when they were already on the road, it hit him - just how terrible this idea probably was. "Tony..."

"I can't handle a mission right Bruce." He said as they drove. He knew S.H.I.E.L.D. would catch up with them eventually. He knew that they would get in trouble. But he also knew that he wasn't going in without a fight. Even if they arrested him, he just didn't care.

Bruce nodded, understanding. He could handle a mission - he could handle many things, but at what cost? Losing control again only to emerge hours later, his mind troubled and his whole body screaming in pain. He hated it. "I love you."

"I love you too. So very much." Tony just kept driving, though if Bruce were to ask him to go back he would. He loved him to much not to.
