Bruce's mind was racing. What was today's mission? Wouldn't the others need them? And what were the consequences of what just happened? Did they just quit SHIELD?
But he didn't say anything, just leaned bak in his seat and closed his eyes.

Soon they got to a dinner. He pulled into the parking lot. "I don't know about you but I'm starving." He said a part of him wondering how long it would take SHIELD to find them.

Tony just had breakfast, so Bruce didn't know what this was about, but he followed Tony out of the car, hoping there wouldn't be too many people in the diner to see them.

Tony was pretty bad. What he really needed was a coffee, black. No if he were honest with himself what he needed was a stiff drink. He ran his fingers through his hair as they walked into the dinner. It was after the breakfast rush so it was rather empty. Tony slipped into a booth.

Bruce followed him, cautiously looking around in all directions, feeling very self conscious. He always hated being spotted - and being spotted while running away from a mission would be worse.

Waitress comes up, she's young and chewing gum. "So what can I get you two to drink?"

"Coffee, black." Tony said.

"Um..." Bruce hesitated for a moment. "Just water, thanks." It's what he really needed.

"I'll be right back with that and take your order." She said with a smile.

Tony grabbed one of the menus that was on the table. "Oh they have biscuits and gravy." He said with a happy grin.

"I'm not really hungry," Bruce muttered. He just wanted his water. He really had no idea what they were doing here.

"Just needed a break from driving." Tony said as if reading Bruce's mind.

"Here you go, you ready to order?" The waitress asked with a bright smile.

"I would like a side order of biscuits and gravy." Tony said with a smile.

"I'll put that order in for you." She smiled heading to the counter.

Biscuits and gravy sounded like a weird combination to Bruce - but he was used to Tony's often bizarre taste in food. He looked around nervously again. The press would have a field day if anyone photographed them.

"you od realize we can't hide us forever." He commented sensing Bruce's thoughts. He sipped his coffee as he waited for his food. He set his cup down. He looked at his shaking hands.

"I know," Bruce sighed. He took a few moments to put his racing thoughts into words, just looking down at the table. "Tony... What are we doing?"

"Having us time." He said as his food came. He picked up his fork and tucked in. "Besides I'm in no condition to go on a mission." He said. Getting clean was going to be hell, but he would do it for Bruce.

Bruce nodded, understanding. Tony was already suffering from withdrawal symptoms... "So, biscuits and gravy," he said, not having anything better to say, "Looks... Interesting."

"I love it, if it's done well. And this is done well." He said as he ate. "Look when we get caught I'll take blame." He knew Bruce wouldn't be overly happy with this, but he'd be damned if he let Bruce get in trouble. They could be arrested and he knew Bruce didn't do well in small spaces.

When we get caught. Not if we get caught. Bruce knew it was right. They couldn't outrun SHIELD. No one could. They were going to get caught and then... And then what? Bruce still felt horribly guilty about leaving their teammates on their own to deal with whatever the threat was. He shook his head. "I joined you. On my own free will."

"I won't have you go to prison. I won't. I'll take the blame." He said.

The waitress came and refilled their drinks.

"I keep waiting for Fury to walk through the door."

"I don't think they can actually take us to prison - a SHIELD facility, maybe - sorry, I'll shut up. But I won't have you locked up either."

"Better me then you." He said with a small smile. He finished his food and just sits back and sips his coffee. He's honestly surprised he hadn't made a mess of himself.

Bruce watches him quietly, drinking from his glass of water. What was the mission, anyway? He supposed they would have heard if something bad happened - unless, of course, it was bad enough for SHIELD to cover it up.

"We should head back." He said as the waitress brings the bill. He paid leaving a large tip and stood stretching. He then offered his hand to Bruce. "Ready love?" He asked with a smile.

He looked around nervously again, only taking Tony's hand when he was sure no one was looking. He really didn't want to draw attention - he never did, but especially not now. "Where are we going?"

"Not sure, we could go home, face the music." He said having noticed that Bruce hesitated on taking his hand. He knew why, he really did, but that doesn't mean he has to like it. He had never been good at hiding things, hence why the world knows he's Iron Man. He pushed those thoughts away. He would deal with it, with the hiding, and he would do it for Bruce.

"I'd wait until tomorrow," Bruce whispered, "We get back now, they might make us fight. It hasn't been this long since they assembled..."
