Dean beamed at the prospect of being able to help Kane learn how to swim. Helping him do anything was smile-worthy, really. He would help him do whatever came to mind, and coach him all the way. Most of all he wanted to help Kane face what was so obviously very new feelings.

He shrugged. "I don't mind. You can share my friends." Smiling again, Dean looked around to Genivei and noticed him watching every now and then. Maybe he was evaluating Kane, but Dean didn't need him to do that. "I don't really... have much family for you to meet." He admitted, looking back at Kane. "They're all doctors, more or less, and they were kiiind of pissed that I didn't become a psychologist. It was just too boring for me, though, I like doing what I do now. Even if it's a bit more dangerous from time to time." Dean clasped his hands on the table in front of him. His family had definitely not liked that he'd dropped out of college to pursue such a 'disgusting' job. But he was doing just as well, if not better, than them.

Kane shrugged. "Seems like we've got opposite situations. " Kind of funny really. If they put their family and friends together, they would basically have a normal set, or what was considered the norm anyway. "And really what you do ... It isn't so bad a all that, even if it is considered a taboo kind of thing. But yeah, so long as you're careful, I don't see anything wrong with it ..." If they got into a full blown relationship, would he get jealous of the people Dean posed with? That was a dilemma right there. Kane had no idea how to deal with it, how to even consider it.

This time, Kane did reach out and placed a hand over Dean's. "Are you bothered by them not being there for you?" Having no support from the people who'd raised you, that had to be hard. And they probably thought they'd messed up royally.

Dean smiled. Well, that was something. Another little breakthrough. Kane didn't think it was bad, what Dean did. But what if they got further? Would he become jealous...? Dean had never felt anything for the other models he worked with, that wouldn't make his job very easy if he hooked onto every guy he took photos with. He looked up when Kane actually initiated a touch and smiled.

"Naah, not really." He shook his head. "It's not bad. I mean, they were always... they can't see past the immediate picture. They're not creative, they don't even understand art or expression. So I was the black sheep from the get-go. I couldn't really show them anything I'd do because they wouldn't appreciate or understand it, so I kept it to myself and showed other people. When they heard I dropped out of school they tried to cut me out before I cut them out. But I was already long gone by the time I got that call." He laughed when he felt a bit of that free-falling happiness rush back the way it had when he had screamed his parents into submission and ran them out of his life.

At least there was that, the knowing that Dean hadn't really lost much by pushing free of his parents. "Well that's nice to hear. So I guess ... part of why you're looking for someone like you described is because of wanting to have someone permanent? Your own little family?" He wanted that. More then once, Kane had thought of adopting, and ended up dismissing the idea. It was a long process, and the courts rarely ended up giving up a child to a single person. It just didn't happen, just one of those disappointments that never went away.

Dean considered the idea. A family. That did sound nice. He'd thought about it before but always thought he was still too young. Of course he hadn't wanted to wait until he was thirty, it would be too late in his opinion. "Yeah, that sounds really nice..." He smiled. "I'd love a family... I mean, nowadays. It's a really appealing idea." He sighed, and looked down. "It's just been hard... impossible, really... to find anyone that's even in a similar mindframe. I guess they all think they're too young still." He suddenly smiled. "I guess I'd have to go into modeling clothes if that were the case." Looking up, Dean laughed and met Kane's eyes. It was difficult not to, they reeled one in. He could see himself with this guy permanently.

Kane had to laugh. The idea of how children might react to seeing their dad in who knew what kind of situation was horrible and hilarious all at the same time. "Aw, poor guy." He squeezed Dean's hand. "I don't think you're too young." Twenty six was definitely old enough to have kids. It meant you'd always be around for them. Others, who waited too long, they increased the chances that they wouldn't be there for the most important moments in their children's lives. Or so Kane believed anyway.
